LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Piers Morgan blasted Congresswoman Katie Porter during a panel discussion on ‘Real Time with Bill Maher’ on April 14 over Riley Gaines, a 12-time All-American champion, who was recently attacked by transgender activists on April 6. Porter said Gaines had used the incident as a way to “get likes and clicks.” To this, Morgan responded saying, “That's not what she's doing.”

Gaines, who demanded separate locker rooms for transgender athletes after she claimed she was exposed to trans swimmer Lia Thomas’ male genitalia, was assaulted by trans activists during a speech on April 6. She said she was “ambushed and physically hit twice by a man” and was forced to barricade for three hours from the protesters who attacked during her speech about protecting women’s sports. Sharing a video of the incident, she wrote, "The prisoners are running the asylum at SFSU." She added, "This is proof that women need sex-protected spaces." In the video, one of the protesters can be heard yelling, "Why are you running!” who later shouts, “Yeah you f***ing transphobic b***h."

'You should be able to have a civil debate'

During the discussion on April 14, as reported by Daily Mail, Porter said, "You should be able to have a civil debate, nobody, including Riley Gaines - who I disagree with strongly should," who was interrupted by Morgan, who said, "What do you disagree with, out of interest." "I think that it should be up to sporting bodies to make decisions about," Porter continued before she questioned, "What is it she's said that's actually wrong." "I think that she's tried to turn this - you know how we've talked about people becoming - using things to get likes and get clicks," she said.

'She's speaking for pretty much every female athlete'

Morgan responded, "That's not what she's doing." Porter in shock asked, "She's not?" She then added, "All I’ve seen her do is stand up for women’s rights, for fairness and equality. She actually competed against Lia Thomas, and it was obviously unfair. Lia Thomas, won one of the races in the NCAA championships by 50 seconds against a bunch of biological females who simply couldn’t keep up. That cannot be right. It cannot be fair.” When Porter expressed that she thought Gaines was just speaking for herself, Morgan said, “I think she’s speaking for pretty much every female athlete in the world.”

However, it was just not Morgan who slammed her but even the netizens were quick to react. One wrote, "Really shocked that @RepKatiePorter spoke about Riley Gaines like this. Not even acknowledging that there’s an issue with female sports and accusing Gaines of selfishness."
