LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'Jeopardy!' champion Mattea Roach has won the hearts of many with their impeccable skills in the game. The skilled champion has suffered a tragic loss after gaining major success on the Masters special of the game. The 24-year-old champion from Nova Scotia, Canada has lost their father, Phillip Roach, to a brain aneurysm. Philip Roach died in his home in Halifax, at the age of 57. Mattea's sudden tragic loss was reported by their hometown's local newspaper 'Nova Scotia Buzz'.
Philip was the reason Mattea got into music and trivia, and their love for those things stems from the encouragement and love they got from their father. The Roach family has a great bond between them and the one that created and nurtured it was Philip Roach and his passion to always be there for his kids. Mattea's father loved playing trivia games with his kids and he was proud to have passed down his love of rock music to them.

'Doubt anyone was that invested in my Jeopardy anecdote'
Mattea shared a picture of them with their dad Philip Roach on their official Twitter account and wrote how supportive their dad is with their 'Jeopardy!' anecdote and also mentioned how the father-daughter duo is going to see their favorite band, Kraftwerk, after 10 years of discussing it. They wrote, "Doubt anyone was that invested in my Jeopardy anecdote about going to Kraftwerk with my dad, but in case anyone was: after ten years of talking about it I am finally going to see Kraftwerk with my dad."
Philip's children, who he had with his wife Patti McKinnon, were the greatest joy of his life. Mattea's father completed his studies back in 1993 at Saint Mary’s University and had a degree in business, but later in life created a career in human resources.
'This is Jeopardy!'
Mattea's parents celebrate their daughter every chance they get, for instance, they hosted a watch party at their home for each and every one of their original 23 wins in 2022. The family also has their front door decorated with the sign, 'This is Jeopardy!' written on it. Since becoming famous on the show, Mattea has started their own podcast and now uses the pronouns they/them. They are the sixth-highest winning contestant on the show and has $560,983K in regular gameplay earnings. Their achievements and the love they have for trivia will undoubtedly be making their father proud.
