'The Mandalorian' star also wore black sports shorts and colorful striped socks. To complete the casual appearance, he wore feet white shoes with a retro vibe. The announcement was made following the program's record-breaking debut on the streaming service and cable network. Since then, it has attracted 22 million viewers, making it HBO's most-watched series debut in over ten years, as per Daily Mail.
"I'm humbled, honored, and frankly overwhelmed that so many people have tuned in and connected with our retelling of Joel and Ellie's journey," executive producer Neil Druckmann stated, as recorded by The Hollywood Reporter. "The collaboration with Craig Mazin, our incredible cast and crew, and HBO exceeded my already high expectations. Now we have the absolute pleasure of being able to do it again with season two!"
After House of the Dragon's remarkable 9.986M audience last August, the post-apocalyptic series becomes the cable network's second-largest launch. It is set 20 years after a global pandemic. Earlier this month, the showrunners said in a statement, "Our focus was simply to make the best possible adaptation of this beloved story for as big an audience as we could. We are overjoyed to see how many fans, both old and new, have welcomed 'The Last of Us' into their homes and their hearts."
In the show, Joel (Pedro Pascal) is tasked with bringing Ellie (Bella Ramsey), 14, out of a Boston quarantine zone and all the way to the West Coast where a cure is being developed. Ellie is miraculously immune to the Cordyceps illness. 60% of the population perished due to a parasitic fungus infection that has four phases of infection and was modeled after the echolocating zombie-like creature ophiocordyceps unilateralis from real life.
Nick Offerman, Storm Reid, Gabriel Luna, Merle Dandridge, Melanie Lynskey, and Anna Torv also star in 'The Last of Us.' On Rotten Tomatoes, it presently has a 96% audience score and a "certified fresh" 99% critic approval rating (out of 102 reviews).
