'RIP Teddy Ray': Fans pay tribute as 'Pause with Sam Jay' star, 32, drowns in pool
Update: The Riverside County Sheriff's Office tells TMZ they were called to a private residence in Rancho Mirage on August 12 at 10 am, where a maintenance worker reported finding a man floating in the swimming pool.
Teddy was found dead in the pool. RCSO has ruled out any obvious signs of foul play. Since the comedian lived in Gardena,CA, it is unclear whose pool he drowned in. Investigators are waiting for all the results from Teddy's autopsy before determining an official cause of death.

The cause of the comedian's death, who appeared on HBO’s 'All Def Comedy', 'Pause with Sam Jay' and was featured on the eighth season of MTV’s 'Wild N’ Out', has not been revealed. The Riverside County Sheriff’s office and the county’s coroner’s office confirmed the death of the comedian, whose legal name was Theodore Brown, as per a report by the Los Angeles Times. All Def Digital, a media company that Ray had collaborated with, wrote on their Instagram page, "We’re heartbroken and still can’t believe that our brother Teddy Ray has passed away. Teddy was the kindest person you could ever meet. He was always smiling. He had a natural ability to make anyone laugh in any situation and his laugh was infectious! To know Teddy was to love him."

Quinta Brunson, the creator of ABC’s hit comedy 'Abbott Elementary', paid tribute to Ray on Twitter, writing, “Rest well, Teddy. The kindest and funniest. We’re all going to miss you far too much.”

Not just a comedian...
Ray was not just restricted to standup. He was a writer and actor on the comedy series 'How to Be Broke' in which he appeared in six episodes between 2017 and 2018. He also appeared in a 2021 episode of 'Cancel Court', a comedy courtroom show.
