Paulina was the first Central European woman to appear on the cover of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue in 1984 at the age of 18. Back in the year 1988, she earned the highest-paying modelling contract ever, at $6,000,000, with Estee Lauder.
After the death of her husband and being betrayed, she has been open about her money mistakes. During one panel in Abu Dhabi, Paulina recounted joining Instagram at the urging of a friend. Paulina Porizkova was born in Prostejov, in the current Czech Republic, and spent much of her childhood separated from her parents. Her parents had fled the former Czechoslovakian territory during the Warsaw Pact Invasion, and she stayed back with her grandmother. However, the government didn't allow her to leave the country to be with them. The fight to reunite the family went on for seven years until she was eventually allowed to be with them. Paulina began modelling in the early 80s and quickly became one of the most popular models based in Europe and the United States.
