Ozzy steadily charts a comeback, latest single 'Under the Graveyard' hits No. 1 on US Rock Radio
Don't let Ozzy Osbourne's new album title fool you. His upcoming studio album, 'Ordinary Man,' already contains a No. 1 smash hit. The single 'Under the Graveyard,' which has amassed over 5.4 million plays worldwide, has catapulted Ozzy to the top of the US Rock charts and back into the spotlight.
This is the first time that Ozzy has hit No.1 on the charts in 10 years, and it will be his third No.1 overall, following 'I Don’t Wanna Stop' and 'Let Me Hear You Scream.' 'Under the Graveyard' also features an all-star supporting cast which includes Duff McKagan from Guns N' Roses on bass and Chad Smith of Red Hot Chili Peppers fame on drums. Chad Smith even pulls double duty on the song as a co-writer in the lyrics department. A cinematic music video for the track is also revealed to be in the pipeline.
Ozzy recently collaborated with popular rapper Post Malone on the single 'Take What You Want,' and in truth, it might have even sparked the genesis of Ozzy's upcoming album. When his daughter Kelly Osbourne first suggested collaborating with Post Malone, Ozzy admitted that he didn't even know who the chart-topping rapper was at the time. Then after a fruitful meeting with Post Malone's producer, Andrew Watt, who had previously helped generate hits for Cardi B, Justin Bieber, Camila Cabello, 5 Seconds Of Summer and Blink 182, Ozzy was on board to collaborate for the track.
"After we finished that song, he said ‘would you be interested in starting an album?’ I said ‘that would be fucking great, but now I am thinking I don’t want to be working in a basement studio for six months! And in just a short time, we had the album done," Ozzy recalls.
Andrew Watt revealed in an interview with Billboard that the entire album was written and recorded in just four days. Ozzy concurs, saying the album was knocked out in record time. "Duff [McKagan] and Chad [Smith] came in and we would go in and jam during the day and I would go work out the songs in the evenings. I previously had said to Sharon I should be doing an album, but in the back of my mind I was going ‘I haven’t got the fucking strength...’ but Andrew pulled it out of me. I really hope people listen to it and enjoy it because I put my heart and soul into this album."
Ozzy will be kicking off his twice-postponed North American tour at the end of May 2020. His new album, 'Ordinary Man,' is expected in early 2020 from Epic Records.
