'Outside The Wire': Release date, plot, cast, and everything else about Netflix's action-sci-fi show

Directed by Mikael Håfström, 'Outside the Wire' is set in the future and will see Mackie play the role of a drone pilot sent to a militarized zone.

We have to be honest. We couldn't get enough of Anthony Mackie in 'Avengers' and 'Captain America'. And we're only glad he is returning to the small screen with an action sci-fi show for Netflix.  Directed by Mikael Håfström, 'Outside the Wire' is set in the future and will see Mackie play the role of a drone pilot sent to a militarized zone.

Release date

There is no release date announced yet. The show will commence shooting in the month of August. 

Plot

According to reports, 'Outside The Wire' is set in the future, and follows a drone pilot (played by Mackie) who gets sent into a deadly militarized zone. He soon finds himself working for an android officer who is searching for a doomsday device before it falls into the hands of insurgents.

Anthony Mackie

Mackie is best known for his role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Falcon. For his role in Kathryn Bigelow's 'The Hurt Locker', Mackie won the Oscar is six categories, which included Best Picture.  He was most recently seen in the fifth season of 'Black Mirror'. For the Disney+ series 'Falcon and the Winter Soldier', Mackie will be reprising his Marvel role. He will also be seen in the second season of Netflix's 'Altered Carbon'.

Damson Idris (of 'Snowfall' fame) and Emily Beecham (of 'Hail, Caesar!' and 'Into the Badlands' fame) will also be starring alongside Mackie. 

Creators 

Mackie is set to produce the action-sci-fi series with Brian Kavanaugh-Jones (Sinister) for Automatik, Ben Pugh (Ironbark) and Erica Steinberg (Death Proof) for 42, and Jason Spire (Operation Finale) for Inspire Entertainment. Script comes from video game scribe Rob Yescombe and Rowan Athale (Way Down). 

Executive producers are Josh Horsfield, Fred Berger for Automatik, Rory Aitken for 42 and David U. Lee for Leeding Media. Charlie Morrison is co-producing for 42.  Mikael Håfström, known for Escape Plan, 1408 and The Rite, is currently in post-production on Scandi thriller The Perfect Patient.

'Outside The Wire' doesn't have a trailer as of now considering the show will only commence shooting in August.
