The tragic killing of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of ‘Rust’ movie on Thursday, October 21, by actor Alec Baldwin has enraged a lot of people. Many have called for the 63-year-old film producer’s arrest after he accidentally misfired a prop gun, fatally shooting Hutchins and also injuring director Joel Souza. The incident reportedly happened at the Bonanza Creek Ranch, a production location in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Soon after the shooting, the 42-year-old crew member was rushed to the University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque, where she was declared dead. The director was taken to Christus St Vincent Regional Medical Center, where he's receiving treatment, the Santa Fe County Sheriff's office said. The Sheriff's office added, “Detectives are investigating how [the prop firearm was used] and what type of projectile was discharged. This incident remains an active investigation. As more information becomes available, updates will be provided.”

While a statement from a spokesperson for Rust Movies Productions LLC stated, “The entire cast and crew has been absolutely devastated by today’s tragedy, and we send our deepest condolences to Halyna’s family and loved ones. We have halted production on the film for an undetermined period of time and are fully cooperating with the Santa Fe Police Department’s investigation. We will be providing counseling services to everyone connected to the film as we work to process this awful event.”



 

As per reports, no arrests have been made yet. But the enraged online community demanded Baldwin’s immediate arrest. A user tweeted, “If Alec Baldwin was a police officer who accidentally shot a criminal resisting arrest He'd be in jail right now facing murder charges.” Another one wrote, “Cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, was 42 years old.  Daughter, sister, partner, friend and colleague.
