The 94th Annual Academy Awards are finally here and ladies and gentlemen the results are in! One of the most uplifting categories is that of the Best Documentary Feature which sees much anticipation.

For the 2022 Oscars, we have a total of five nominees which include 'Ascension' by Jessica Kingdon, Kira Simon-Kennedy and Nathan Truesdell, 'Attica' by Stanley Nelson and Traci A Curry, 'Flee' by Jonas Poher Rasmussen, Monica Hellström, Signe Bryge Sørensen and Charlotte De La Gournerie, 'Summer Of Soul (…Or, When The Revolution Could Not Be Televised) by Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson, Joseph Patel, Robert Fyvolent and David Dinerstein, and 'Writing With Fire' by Rintu Thomas and Sushmit Ghosh. And we have the results with 'Summer Of Soul (…Or, When The Revolution Could Not Be Televised)' coming out as the winner!

'Summer Of Soul (…Or, When The Revolution Could Not Be Televised)' which is based on the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival has a major significance to black people all over and received acclaim from critics with praise aimed at the footage restoration and has won numerous accolades. These accolades include a leading and sweeping six awards at the 6th Critics' Choice Documentary Awards, including Best Documentary Feature, the BAFTA Award for Best Documentary at the 75th British Academy Film Awards. In the historic win director Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson gave a touching, heartfelt speech saying, "This is not about me. This is about marginalized people in Harlem that need to heal from pain.”

But what should have been a memorable moment for 'Summer of The Soul' was in fact overshadowed when Will Smith in a shocking display of anger, slapped Chris Rock moments before the win was announced. The scandalous act left everyone in the audience as well as viewers shocked and took away from 'Summer of Soul' winning. Fans who were watching to support the important movie were left aghast and furious at Smith for stealing the thunder with his petty actions.
