Marvel fans are furious. Especially those who loved Robert Downey's Jr. as Iron Man. Such was the actor's scintillating and charismatic performance as multi-billionaire Tony Stark/Iron Man that fans argued that he truly deserved an Oscar. Especially when it came to the category of Best Actor. However, the recently announced nominations quashed all hopes of RDJ taking the stage to lift the trophy as the 54-year-old didn't even make the list of nominees. On the nomination list are Antonio Banderas for 'Pain and Glory',  Leonardo DiCaprio for 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood', Adam Driver for 'Marriage Story', Joaquin Phoenix for 'Joker', and Jonathan Pryce for 'The Two Popes'.

As a result of the snub, all hell broke loose on Twitter as fans slammed the awards for not nominating the actor. While 'Avengers: Endgame' did garner a nomination for Best Visual Effects, fans were more vocal about their thoughts on RDJ. Here are a few reactions from Twitterati who were thoroughly disappointed by the snub. "RDJ deserved Best Actor," said a fan and that sparked a list of reactions seconding and thirding the thought. "Should have been more than that. I still think RDJ should win the best actor," tweeted another.

"#OscarNoms why the f*** isn’t @RobertDowneyJr nominated for his amazing role as Iron Man in Endgame!? His performance was outstanding and heart wrenching. He brought that character to life and made it. He deserves the recognition and we deserve to see him win it!" wrote a fan. For some, 'Avengers: Endgame' deserved more than just one nomination. "Robbed. Deserved Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Directing, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Picture noms," said a fan.

But there were also a bunch of content fans who were glad the MCU epic was nominated and sincerely hoped it would pip the competition. "I hope they win. Endgame deserves it," wrote a fan. "Very good much deserving movie. #Oscars2020  #AvengersEndgame," "Well deserved. I just watched it again yesterday, and it does indeed look amazing," were a few comments.

'Avengers: Endgame' may not have raked in the awards at the Golden Globes, but it did walk away with an award at the 25th Critics' Choice Awards on January 12 night for 'Best Action Movie'. The  MCU blockbuster managed to pip formidable competitors in '1917', 'Ford v Ferrari', 'John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum', and 'Spider-Man: Far From Home'.

The film also ruled the BO in 2019. It grossed $858.4 million in the United States and Canada, and $1.939 billion in other territories, for a worldwide total of $2.798 billion. With these staggering numbers, it's anybody's guess why the film deserved to earn the award. And with this, fans who were upset and furious that the movie wasn't nominated in the recently concluded Golden Globe Awards are now hopeful that it takes some Oscars home. Scratch that, an Oscar would be just fine.

The Oscars Awards will be announced on February 10, 2020.
