LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'Orion and the Dark' is a fantasy adventure film on Netflix based on the children's book of the same name by Emma Yarlett.

The film with a runtime of approximately 90 minutes takes us through the enchanting journey of a little boy named Orion overcoming his fears. Orion fears a lot of things, but darkness is his biggest fear of all.

One odd night, Dark, a supernatural entity appears and expresses his frustration of always being on the receiving end of hatred. He then invites Orion on a 24-hour trip to show him the beauty that lies in the darkness.

Orion begins to appreciate the beauty of darkness

Orion regrets turning all the night entities against the dark. As Sleep, Quiet, Insomnia, Unexplained Noises, and Sweet Dreams join the Light, Dark gives up and ceases to exist.

Orion, who can't seem to find a way out gets help from his future daughter Hypatia, as she travels to the past through the story told by the older Orion.

This is when the night entities return to revive Dark from Orion's dreams. Sweet Dreams and Hypatia enter Orion's subconscious and visit the night when Dark meets Orion. However, when Dark is about to fall into the endless pit forever, Orion jumps in to save him.

In order to save Dark from disappearing forever, they wake up Orion. Dark escapes the dreams and goes back to spreading darkness. Orion is seen appreciating the beauty of the night as the sky is covered with stars.

Orion passes on the story to the next generations

Hypatia, who is stuck in Orion's childhood, escapes via a time machine while killing some ugly time monsters on her way. Though Orion hasn't completely overcome the fear of darkness, he has surely learned the lesson of not allowing our fears to prevent us from living our lives.

He has now started to embrace the beauty of darkness and is ready to face all his fears, including going on the field trip and sitting beside Sally.

Coming to the future, Orion passes on the inspiring story to his daughter and later to his grandson. Interestingly, he also works at the planetarium, kicking his fears in the face.

'Orion and the Dark' is now streaming on Netflix.
