Millions of people around the globe were in for a special treat on Saturday night, April 18, as hundreds of music artistes ranging from Sir Paul McCartney and The Roots to Chris Martin and Kacey Musgraves joined forces for a massive online concert performed from the comfort of their homes, aptly called 'One World: Together At Home'.

The star-studded music extravaganza was organized by Lady Gaga, Global Citizen and the World Health Organization and hosted by late-night TV hosts Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel as a musical thank you to health care workers who are battling the frontlines to combat the current COVID-19 pandemic.

Stevie Wonder made a special appearance to sing 'Lean On Me', the evergreen classic made famous by Bill Withers, who recently passed away this month. Stevie was dressed in his trademark sunglasses and bandana, as he sat at his piano.

Before he began playing, Stevie said, "During hardships like this, we have to lean on each other for help. My Friend Bill Withers has the perfect song for that," before launching into the moving rendition of the song which was first released in 1972 by Withers.

Stevie also sang 'Love's In The Need Of Love Today' and fans totally adored his melodious singing online. One fan even posted Lady Gaga jumping in front of her TV and moved to tears as she watched Stevie Wonder perform.

Another viewer was also moved, saying "Welp, Stevie Wonder made me cry." Other admirers agreed that "So far the only good thing on #GlobalCitizen was Stevie Wonder."

Sir Elton John joined the party, singing his hit 'I'm Still Standing' which was the perfect battle cry that the world needed to hear, with lines full of defiant optimism. He was introduced by none other than David and Victoria Beckham.

It was doubly sweet for the 73-year old Elton John because the singer recently had to cancel some concerts on his world tour a few months because he had fallen gravely ill. Many felt it was extremely heartwarming to see him perform once again.

His fans were similarly thrilled, posting messages like "Elton sounded great tonight. Perfect song for this show, thank you." Others noted his lovely choice of song, tweeting "The only one who sang a happy song was Elton John."

It was certainly memorable performances from both talented musical icons and a fitting tribute to the heroic medical professionals around the globe.
