'One World: Together At Home': Billie Joe should have tweaked hit song to 'Wake Me Up When Quarantine Ends'
Sporting bedraggled hair and a plain face without his signature dark eyeliner, Billie Joe Armstrong, Green Day's lead singer looked as tired and worn out by the pandemic lockdown as the rest of the world.
As he somberly began singing his hit number 'Wake Me Up When September Ends' during the 'One World: Together At Home' concert, fans couldn't help but go back in time when the whole world quarantining together was nothing more than a figment of a deranged person's wild imagination.
While Billie Joe continued crooning his popular song, several fans felt that the Green Day singer should have tweaked the hit song slightly to make it more relatable to the current times. Fans chimed in suggesting that the word September should have been replaced with quarantine in the song.
Several fans took to Twitter to point out how Billie Joe missed out a golden opportunity by not singing 'Wake me up when quarantine ends'. A fan tweeted, "Billie Joe Armstrong really missing out on a prime opportunity by not changing the lyrics to Wake Me Up When Quarantine Ends."
Another fan wrote, "Billie Joe Armstrong really missed an opportunity when, during global citizen, he sang 'Wake me up when September ends' and didn’t replace 'September' with 'quarantine'."
"Billie Joe Armstrong really had the perfect opportunity to sing 'Wake Me Up When Quarantine Ends'... same syllable count as 'September'," expressed another disappointed fan.
"Billie Joe Armstrong is singing 'Wake Me Up When September Ends' and I think he should sing "Wake Me Up When Quarantine Ends' #TogetherAtHome,” commented a fan.
"How did Billie Joe Armstrong miss the opportunity to sing 'wake me up when quarantine ends' #OneWorldTogetherAtHome,” wondered another fan. We hope Billie gets to hear his fans' feedback and soon makes a cover of the famous to help us get through this rough patch.
