Rodrigo kickstarted her acting career with theater productions at Lisa J Mails Elementary School and Dorothy McElhinney Middle School. If we speak about her debut onscreen appearance, Rodrigo was first seen in an Old Navy commercial and she later portrayed the lead role of Grace Thomas in direct-to-video film ‘An American Girl: Grace Stirs Up Success.’

In 2016, Rodrigo got the role of Paige Olvera in the Disney Channel series ‘Bizaardvark’ and in February 2019 she was roped-in for the starring role of Nini Salazar-Roberts on the Disney+ series ‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.’ She also penned ‘All I Want’ and co-wrote ‘Just For A Moment’ with co-star Joshua Bassett for the show’s soundtrack. The song ‘All I Want’ charted on the Billboard Hot 100 and also earned the coveted gold certification.

Olivia Rodrigo was supposed to drop her debut single ‘Drivers License’ on the Internet on January 8, 2021, but she surprised fans by dropping it a day early on January 7.

Concept

Before the release of the track, the Disney star went live on her official YouTube channel where she interacted with her fans and also premiered the track.  The young singer had also shared an official poster of her debut single before the release on her Twitter account. It simply features the singer in a close-up shot in one-half of the cover. It appears as if she is lost in her thoughts as light falls on her face. In the other half of the poster, we can see multiple pictures of Rodrigo. We absolutely loved the aesthetic touch given to the cover art.

Official video

Looking at the lyrics and the visuals, it is pretty clear the song is about heartbreak and insecurities that come with it. The lyrics of ‘Drivers License’ go like, “And, you are probably with that blonde girl, who always made me doubt/ She’s so much older than me, she is everything I am insecure about.” You can check the official music video of the song right here:
