LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Olivia Newton-John’s daughter has revealed the touching last words of her mother who kept her sense of humor intact right until she died. The 'Grease' icon Newton-John was diagnosed with breast cancer many times which she long battled and ultimately died in August 2022 at the age of 73.

“The last words she could say to me was, ‘My sunshine,” Chloe Lattanzi said in an interview with Today. She added, "And right before she lost her ability to speak, she was making jokes.”

Olivia Newton-John: 4 times Grammy winner

The Australian actress Newton-John was a four-time Grammy winner who became a sensation starring in “Grease.” She was born in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, UK in 1948. Her family moved to Australia in 1954 after her father was offered a position as dean of a Presbyterian institution in Melbourne. After winning a singing talent contest, she returned to England with her mother, where she resided until 1975.

“I love my mom more than anything,” Chloe said while choking up as mentioned by the outlet. “She’s my mama, you know? She’s not Olivia Newton-John to me, but I’m so glad that she was Olivia Newton-John for so many people,” Chloe said. Chloe is Olivia's daughter with her first husband, Matt Lattanzi, who she was married to between 1984 and 1995. 

Newton-John's duet of “Jolene” with friend Dolly Parton will be released on February 17. Lattanzi tells the outlet that the support she has gotten from her mother’s fans has helped her. “It actually has been a life raft. It has felt like a big hug from the universe,” she said. “And I’m very grateful for all of the people who reached out to us and extended their heart and their connection.”

John Easterling, Olivia Newton's husband also sat for the interview along with Chloe. John who married Olivia in 2008 said, "Every day, I miss Olivia terribly. And yet every day I’m really super grateful that I had 15 wonderful years with this extraordinary human being." 

John said at the time of her death, "Olivia has been a symbol of triumphs and hopes for over 30 years sharing her journey with breast cancer," as per Daily Mail. "She had the willpower, even in her most difficult times, to really bring in the light and to bring in the love," he said. He even said that after Olivia's death, he would "just speak to her out loud," as reported by MEAWW earlier.
