'Obi-Wan Kenobi': Release date, plot, cast and all you need to know about the 'Star Wars' prequel featuring Ewan McGregor
Obi-Wan Kenobi is one of pop culture's most prominent characters. First portrayed by Alec Guinness in 'Star Wars: A New Hope', then by Ewan McGregor in the 'Star Wars' prequel movies, there is a new series in the works for Disney+.
The role of Obi-Wan will once again be played by Ewan McGregor, and while there isn't a lot known about the series at the moment, keep watching this space for more information to come!
Release Date
There is currently no release date for the series, which has been put on indefinite hold following certain changes to the script that need to be made.
Plot
The series was originally supposed to follow the adventures of Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) on Tatooine, protecting a young Luke Skywalker from afar.
However, with 'The Mandalorian' also featuring a warrior keeping a young one protected, it felt that the two franchises were too similar, prompting reworks of the script. What the new story will have has not yet been determined.

Ewan McGregor is a prolific Hollywood actor best known for playing Obi-Wan Kenobi. He is also known for his roles in 'Birds of Prey', 'Moulin Rouge' and 'Trainspotting'.
Creators
The series was originally set to be written by Hossein Amini, and directed by Deborah Chow. Deborah Chow is the first female 'Star Wars' director, having directed episodes of 'The Mandalorian' for Disney+.
News
Ewan McGregor announced at D23 in August 2019, that he would be reprising his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi in a live-action TV series. In January 2020, it was reported that the show would be delayed indefinitely, as the scripts for the show would be requiring rewrites.
