Not the public's enemy: Poll shows Brad Pitt still favored over Angelina Jolie despite abuse allegations
Despite Angelina Jolie's serious abuse accusations against Brad Pitt, a massive number of people continue to favor the actor. A poll conducted by The Hollywood Reporter offered a little insight into what exactly may be happening. One poll was conducted before pointing out the accusations against Brad Pitt, and another was conducted later. The second poll only seemed to show a minor slip in Pitt's public approval.
The accusations are serious enough to land Pitt in jail. However, very few people went against the actor despite Jolie's claims. People seem to favor Pitt even if Jolie's claims are true, going directly against the #MeToo movement. This, however, is not the first time something like this has happened.

The Jonny Depp versus Amber Heard trial prompted people to believe and express their opinion that women and their accusations against men must not always be trusted. Depp swiftly defeated Heard in court during a defamation suit, following which Heard had to pay millions of dollars in damages. During the trial, Heard was attacked and trolled for allegedly being a celebrity who was hurting women's rights. Depp received massive support, and the hate against women celebrities thus originated.
Ran a poll that said people don’t care about domestic abuse if their fav actor committed the crime. There was absolutely no reason for Brad Pitt to have his team put this article out except to say “Look everyone still loves me despite what I did to Angelina Jolie and her kids!” https://t.co/eUioaPx2hz pic.twitter.com/Y9tleHbRuv

During the Johnny Depp versus Amber Heard trial, a social media expert and member of the actress' legal team, Ron Schnell, testified that the #JusticeForJohnnyDepp hashtag has been the biggest trending topic of the pair's trial so far. Schnell, a member of the Berkeley Research Group, testified on May 19 that millions of tweets tagged with the ‘Justice For Johnny’ hashtag were ‘all’ negative towards Amber Heard. Ever since the trial began, Amber Heard was brutally vilified and became the victim of a massive media trial. Besides numerous trending hashtags against the actress, an online petition demanded that Heard be removed from the 'Aquaman' sequel.
Angelina Jolie's accusations against Brad Pitt
Angelina Jolie has filed court papers accusing ex-husband Brad Pitt of attacking her and their children during a private plane flight. This incident allegedly prompted her to file a divorce. Jolie alleged that Pitt grabbed her by the head and attacked two of their children on a trip in 2016. She also accused him of pouring alcohol on his family during the flight from France to Los Angeles. Pitt has maintained the allegations are false.
Jolie shared new details of the 2016 flight as the legal battle between the two stars over a French winery that they co-owned is escalating. Lawyers for Jolie said that negotiations for the 47-year-old to sell her share of Chateau Miraval to Pitt broke down over Pitt allegedly demanding she sign “a nondisclosure agreement that would have contractually prohibited her from speaking outside of court about Pitt’s physical and emotional abuse of her and their children,” The Guardian reported.
The filing, first reported by the New York Times, said, "Pitt choked one of the children and struck another in the face” and “grabbed Jolie by the head and shook her”. At one point, “he poured beer on Jolie; at another, he poured beer and red wine on the children.” Days after the trip, Jolie filed for a divorce. The FBI did not bring criminal charges over the incident.
'Amber Heard vibes here'
Social media is calling out the constant hate women celebrities have been receiving after the Johnny Depp trial. "Ran a poll that said people don’t care about domestic abuse if their fav actor committed the crime. There was absolutely no reason for Brad Pitt to have his team put this article out except to say “Look everyone still loves me despite what I did to Angelina Jolie and her kids!”," one user wrote on Twitter. "Amber Heard vibes here," someone said, to which another replied, "Yeah, she and angelina are being targeted by the media in the same exact ways. They need to do better."

"Let's show compassion to Weinstein enabler Brad Pitt & let's pile up hatred & victim shaming on the Women & children he abused. How about the allegations of abuse affected victims & their children? they are the ones who suffered accusations from the sexist & misogynist society," one user wrote. Another commented, "This seems to be it to me as well. It’s sad but our justice system does nothing to protect women and kids. It’s been this way for years. Hope one day things will change but for now we just have to keep getting the truth out there."
