Johnny Depp fans trend #WeJustDontLikeYouAmber, double down on hashtags slamming Heard
In the Amber Heard-Johnny Depp trial, several witnesses testified in court on Thursday, May 19. Among the witnesses was actress Ellen Barkin, who testified that her ex-flame Depp, who was often drunk, once threw a wine bottle at her. “He was drunk a lot of the time,” Barkin said about Depp in a recorded deposition played for the jury. “He was a red wine drinker.”
Another witness was Johnny Depp’s former psychiatrist Alan Blaustein, who testified that the actor expressed “frustration” with Amber Heard during their marriage. Depp allegedly compared Heard with his abusive mom and called her a 'pain in the a**." In a deposition, Dr Alan Blaustein said that Depp struggles to stay sober as his relationship with Heard began falling apart. “He used drugs to cope with psychic wounds,” Blaustein said in a recording of his testimony played in court.

Additionally, a social media expert and member of Amber Heard’s legal team, Ron Schnell, testified that the #JusticeForJohnnyDepp hashtag has been the biggest trending topic of the pair's trial so far. Schnell, a member of the Berkeley Research Group, testified on May 19 that millions of tweets tagged with the ‘Justice For Johnny’ hashtag were ‘all’ negative towards Amber Heard.

Heard's legal team has alleged that Depp has been executing a social media smear campaign against Heard, which is being orchestrated through his former lawyer, Adam Waldman. Schnell identified three major spikes in usage of hashtags, that were so massive that they overwhelmed all other related trends. He claimed that all of these occurred simultaneously alongside Waldman’s two statements to the court and Depp’s 2020 libel trial in the UK. It is, however, impossible to conclusively prove Schnell’s claims.

Investigative journalist and intelligence expert Alexa O’Brien recently tweeted, "There is some serious bot activity happening around this depp/heard trial – at the level of subversive propaganda – insane swarms – propagation of false accounts of trial – haven’t seen anything like this before."

Ever since the trial began, Amber Heard has been brutally vilified and has been the victim of a massive media trial. Besides numerous trending hashtags against the actress, an online petition has demanded that Heard be removed from the 'Aquaman' sequel. By May 3, the petition had received three million signatures. By May 17, the number was close to 4.5 million.
After Schnell's comments in court, Johnny Depp fans doubled down on hashtags slamming Heard. Now trending on Twitter is '#WeJustDontLikeYouAmber'. "Ok moment of truth! AMBER! honey the reason you are not on the same level as Jason Momoa after Aquaman is because you SUCK at ACTING! Not Johnny, Not your gender, Not even the ABUSE you have committed! you simply can't act! #AmberTurd #WeJustDontLikeYouAmber #DeppvHeard," one user wrote. "Asking a toxic woman to take accountability of her abusive actions isn’t misogynistic #WeJustDontLikeYouAmber," wrote another. One user said, "I’m certainly not a bot, #AmberHeard. Truth is, I heard your tapes, I saw Johnny’s severed finger, I saw your bruise-less photos and like most, I was repulsed. Let’s call a spade a spade & not a pledge, #WeJustDontLikeYouAmber!"

"#WeJustDontLikeYouAmber I love all the people thinking this tag is a mysogynistic movement. Hon, we don't like you cause we have seen your character. Not because you're a woman," one user wrote, while another said, "Amber keeps saying it’s Johnny Depp’s “obsessed” fans that are hating on her. I was never a fan before this trial.
