COPENHAGEN, DENMARK: Shudder's latest release, 'Nightwatch: Demons Are Forever' plunges viewers deep into the eerie world of the 1994 film 'Nightwatch'.

The film which is directed by Ole Bornedal, who also directed the 1994 film follows Emma (Fanny Leander Bornedal), the daughter of Martin (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), as she tries to piece together what happened thirty years ago and unintentionally triggers a string of murders committed by a new murderer.

As the plot progresses, Emma learns that the notorious murderer Wörmer (Ulf Pilgaard), who is now blind, has a daughter. This suggests that his daughter may be the murderer but Emma finds it difficult to identify Wörmer's daughter.

Martin attends a therapy session with Gunver (Sonja Richter) on Emma and Jens' (Kim Bodnia) instance. However, Martin feels uneasy when Gunver addresses Wörmer's real name and starts discussing retribution.

Conversely, Emma, accompanied by police officer Kramer (Paprika Steen), gets a call from Maria (Nina Terese Rask) informing her that she has been kidnapped as the kidnapper mistakenly believed she was Emma.

She also reveals that Bent (Casper Kjær Jensen), Maria's kidnapper, indicated that the murderer was a commissioner of police. The plot here expertly weaves tension around the killer's identity, suspecting whether it is Kramer or Gunver.

As soon as Emma arrives at the hospital where Gunver and Martin are, she runs from Kramer's car.

However, it turns out that Gunver is Wörmer's daughter, and she is now seeking retribution for her father. She drugs Martin up, handcuffs him, and takes him to her father, Wörmer, who is keen to complete the thirty-year-old task that he failed to complete.

Unaware of her real identity, Emma dashes to the hospital and meets Gunver. She confides in Gunver about her suspicion that Kramer is Wörmer's daughter.

Playing along, Gunver hides Emma and the psycho woman slashes the policewoman, leaving her in a pool of blood, all the while claiming that Kramer is attacking her.

Emma emerges from her hiding place, calls Martin right away, and is shocked to see her father's phone ringing in Gunver's pocket. Emma flees for her life, believing Gunver to be Wörmer's daughter. Gunver pursues her with the intention of killing her.

Martin, on the other hand, manages to kill Wörmer after subduing him, and he resolves to assist Emma when he hears her cries for help.

The man approaches Emma, and as the father and daughter attempt to flee, Gunver follows them ruthlessly.

Ultimately, Emma and Martin are cornered and left with no choice, Emma fires multiple shots from the gun she picked from Kramer, killing Gunver.

At the end of the film, Emma is shown enjoying a day at the beach with Martin and her friend, suggesting that she has gotten over the incident.

'Nightwatch: Demons Are Forever' is now streaming on Shudder.
