Nicki Minaj docuseries: Release date, plot, creators and all you need to know about six-part HBO Max show on rapper

Trinidadian-American rapper Nicki Minaj recently celebrated the 10-year-anniversary of her debut album ‘Pink Friday’ with a virtual celebration and she marked the occasion by announcing her six-part docu-series for HBO Max. The award-winning emcee posted a 30-second video on her official Twitter account to share the big news with her fans. She captioned it: "Everyone play “moment 4 life” starting in 5 4 3 2 1 GO!!!! Then play “here I am” Then go to “did it on em” After that, I’ll make my announcement. Have superbass playing while u read it. #PinkFridayAnniversary #PinkFriday #Barbz."

Release date

Since Nicki Minaj has just announced her new project, we might have to wait a little longer for the official release date of the same. MEAWW will keep you posted with the details.

Plot

According to her tweet, the ‘Starships’ hitmaker revealed, “It’s going to give you guys a raw unfiltered look at my personal life and my professional journey and I can’t wait to share it with you.”

The official press release by HBO Max, as revealed by Cheatsheet, reads, “Each of the six half-hour episodes of this untitled project will explore Nicki’s brilliantly creative mind and tell the story of her personal and professional journey. With complete honesty, Nicki will guide viewers through the most challenging and fulfilling times in her life, navigating highs, lows and misguided agendas in her stratospheric rise to fame and her journey to motherhood. Nicki’s many achievements include 19 Top 10 Billboard Hot 100 hits, and 114 total entries on the Billboard Hot 100—the record for “Most Billboard Hot 100 Entries Ever by a Female Artist.”

Cast

The six-part docu-series will, of course, star Nicki Minaj in the lead, however, the details on the rest of the cast are still awaited. MEAWW will keep you posted.

Born in the Saint James district of Port of Spain and raised in the Queens borough of New York City, her debut album ‘Pink Friday’ peaked at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart and was later certified triple platinum. Cited as one of the most influential female rap artists of all time, Nicki Minaj has sold an estimated 100 million records worldwide, making her one of the world's best-selling music artists.  

Creators

The report published by Variety reveals that the documentary is directed by Michael John Warren, who made his directorial debut with Jay-Z’s 2004 movie ‘Fade to Black.’ Interestingly, Warren has earlier worked with Minaj on two documentaries, one of which was related to her first album back in 2010.  Speaking about the docu-series, Warren asserted, as published by Variety, “I love that this series not only provides an all-access glimpse at one of the most iconic musicians of our generation; it also profiles the brave woman behind the artist, Onika (Nicki Minaj’s real name) I believe all of us can learn a great deal from her remarkable professional and personal life. It’s an honor to be entrusted with this dynamic story.”

Speaking on the same lines, Sarah Aubrey, head of original content at HBO Max, said, “Nicki Minaj is a multi-faceted artist, businesswoman, and innovator as well as force to be reckoned with. It’s a privilege to bring this project to HBO Max and provide our viewers with unprecedented access to her life.”
