Adrian Sutherland's sophomore album 'Precious Diamonds' covers heartbreaking ground
Northern Canadian roots-rocker Adrian Sutherland has released his second solo album, 'Precious Diamonds'. Released March 15 on his own label, Midnight Shine Music, the album was recorded in Nashville with Colin Linden as producer.
'Precious Diamonds' features 10 tracks with contributions from legendary musicians like Mickey Raphael, Jim Hoke, and Linden himself. Following the album release celebration in Toronto on March 14 at The Cameron House, Sutherland heads to Ottawa for a show at the NAC Fourth Stage on March 22.
The album focus track, 'You Are Left Behind', is the kind of song that moves listeners to feel something, and it also hits home personally for Sutherland, who witnesses challenging situations every day in his isolated location: “Mental health is a real struggle for many people in remote First Nation communities. It’s sometimes very difficult for those struggling to find the help they need,” says Sutherland.

Dollytrots announce West Coast tour with Diesel Boy and Go Better Go
Pop-punk rockers The Dollyrots -- Kelly Ogden (bass and vocals), and Luis Cabezas (guitar and vocals) -- have announced a west coast tour this June with Diesel Boy and Go Better Go as support on select dates. They are also releasing a lyric video for their pop and punked up version of Billy Bragg's 'A New England' from their recent album release 'Night Owls'.
When asked about 'A New England', Ogden said, “We’ve got a thing about wishing on stars; it’s been a reoccurring theme in our music since the start. 'A New England' is, in our opinion, the greatest song ever written that mentions wishing on something in the sky. We wanted to make our version give a nod to Kirsty MacColl too, so this one includes the extra lyrics from hers. Because there’s never any shame in making a cover of a cover -- if the originals are that good!”
Grackles release 'It's Coming To Ya' ahead of March 29 album release
Austin-based band Grackles has dropped their final pre-release single, 'It's Coming To Ya', from their self-titled debut album out March 29. 'It's Coming To Ya' follows acclaimed singles 'San Antone' which features blues legend Charlie Musselwhite and Lauren Harris and 'Top Of The World' featuring Kat Edmonson.
The band’s Noah Lit says of 'It's Coming To Ya': "I knew I wanted a record that started with a galloping bluesy beat a la JJ Cale. I hoped it would set the stage for everything to come. The real sonic mood came with Jason's (Mozersky) tone-down Les Paul riff in the intro. It helped us establish where we were going. Joe’s Hammond organ playing drives and pushes and adds a Sopranos (opening song) vibe to the whole thing to me.
The Used announce date sand venues for summer tour
Rock icons The Used have announced they will be hitting the road this summer on a headlining tour joined by Story Of The Year and Amira Elfeky. The tour will be visiting cities across United States and Canada, kicking off on June 20 in Gary, IN and making stops in Minneapolis, Cleveland, Montreal, Baltimore, Asbury Park, and more before wrapping up in Norfolk, VA on July 13. The Used comprises Bert McCracken (Vocals), Jepha (Bass), Dan Whitesides (Drums) and Joey Bradford (Guitar).
Last year, The Used released their newest album, 'Toxic Positivity'. Described as a “day-in-the-life journey of a depressed, anxiety-ridden person” by McCracken. “This record is quite tough for me to listen to,” he adds, “because it’s a reflection of times in my life that have been some of my lowest ever.”
