Interestingly, fans of Cicierega tried to decode a secret message within the album after one fan believed he'd unearthed the secret message and tweeted, "Neil Cicierega's new mouth album, Mouth Dreams, besides being fantastic as always, contains a secret message in the song 'Mouth Dreams (extro)'. Visible through a spectrogram are wingdings in reverse. When translated they reveal a SPOOKY MESSAGE."

What started out as a joke soon turned serious as others also got into the guessing game. However, none were able to come up with a  concrete response as to what they thought the secret message could be.

Another fan, talking about the same and saying that the secret message is that there is no secret message, wrote, "EASTER EGGS I NOTICED IN MOUTH DREAMS: Every song was modified May 3, 2099; 100 years after the release of 'All Star' by Smash Mouth. Every song has a letter in the comments like in 'Mouth Silence', which when alphabetized and reversed, says "I CANT THINK OF A SECRET MESSAGE""

A different fan, pointing out the same, wrote, "Sorting songs in reverse by title on 'MOUTH DREAMS' spells out 'I cant think of a secret message' in the comment fields. I see you Neil Cicierega," while another, making light of the secret message situation, tweeted, "'Mouth Dreams' secret message spoiler: Gur frperg zrffntr sbe Zbhgu Qernzf vf "vpnagguvaxbsnfrpergzrffntr". Lbh pna trg vg ol fbegvat gur fbat pbzzragf ol fbat gvgyr va erirefr beqre."

Cicierega, who first released a mashup album 'Mouth Sounds' in 2014, has since gained a cult following.
