DULUTH, ATLANTA: NeNe Leakes, a well-known reality TV star, entrepreneur, and philanthropist who is best known for her appearances on 'The Real Housewives of Atlanta' and 'Dancing with the Stars' has stirred up social media with her recent post.

In 2016, she teamed up with Dr Stacia Pierce to launch Ladies of Success Circle, a community and coaching program designed to help women achieve their goals and reach their full potential. The organization has hosted many events in the past where they invited women to take on the journey toward success, but NeNe's recent post asking women to participate in an upcoming "girls trip" this April, has the internet divided. While it is admirable that she is seeking to empower and support women, it is concerning that she has placed such a high-income threshold for entry into the group. '150K and above' criteria

NeNe, the founder of the Ladies of Success Circle, has been heavily criticized for her hypocrisy in her latest update on Instagram. In the video, she is seen inviting "powerful" women to join an upcoming "girls trip" in April, as part of an event for the Ladies of Success Circle. But her caption highlighted one condition that did not sit right with the Internet. She wrote, "To join this circle of powerful successful women you must make 150k and above per year!" This not only has a derogatory aspect to it but is also not inclusive and supportive of all women regardless of their financial situation.

Fans were quick to jump into the comment section calling out her hypocrisy. One said, " Wow this is very discouraging.....How can we empower one another by basically saying if you don't make this or that you're not worthy.....Bye NeNe I pray you stay rich it's along way back to the bottom 🤦🏽‍♀️" While another pointed out how the proposition reflects a high-school like situation. They wrote, " So women only have power and success if they are in a certain tax bracket 🙄. Why does this post have the air of high school days and a “you can’t sit with us “ mentality lol ? To each her own 🤦🏽‍♀️🙄🤷🏽‍♀️"

Nene was also called out for her double standards, where a user said, "Nene remember where you came from. You never owned a home until your early 50’s! Let the people that make under that join too". Comments like, "Well, geez. Sorry I’m working class Nene! 😂😂😅😅 But I’m well-educated and degreed up! 💁🏾‍♀️😂" and "Wow, 150k that’s your price? Prejudicial towards lower income women ??? Really !!?? So if you are a single Mom waiting tables struggling ? You are not invited ? Way to lift others up . Unfollowing now" also threw light on Nene's unfair exclusivity.

One of the most notable comments on the thread was, "Nene I don’t make 150K a year but can you please do something for the little people down here everything is not about money some of us want to be a part of things like this even if we don’t have a fit 150k smh you had to crawl before you walked also do something for us little people in fact, I always rooted for you no matter what you started from the bottom and now you’re here"

Ladies of Success creates a buzz despite backlash

NeNe's shenanigans did not end with just one video. She posted a follow-up video where she talked about the overwhelming response she received from her previous post, despite receiving a backlash from her fans. She said that she is incredibly proud of the bios and headshots that she received for the upcoming event in April. She continued further saying that their bios made her smile and she had a great time going through each one of them. It is important to note that not all women have the same financial resources or opportunities, and setting such a high bar for entry may exclude many women who would benefit from the resources and support provided by the Ladies of Success Circle. But that didn't stop the reality star to gush about the traction she garnered.
