NCT: Resonance 'Global Wave': Yang Yang steps-in for injured Taeyong, fans shower love and say he 'killed it'
Taeyong, who is one of the most prominent faces of South Korean boy band NCT, could not be part of the much-awaited NCT: Resonance ‘Global Wave’ live event on Sunday, December 27, due to an injury in his lower back. However, the rest of the members of the group landed on the stage and to everyone’s surprise, they roped-in actor and singer Yang Yang to cover Taeyong’s rapping part from the hit song ‘Light Bulb'.
Social media users loved the surprise and gave a thumbs up to Yang Yang for his wonderful performance. Taeyong's fans rushed to Twitter to express their joy. One user stated, "Really missed Taeyongs presence in Light Bulb but my god Yangyang made those parts his own and f**kin kicked the lungs out my chest with that eye contact stop him Kun #NCT2020_Beyond_LIVE.” Another expressed, “#YANGYANG did well covering #TAEYONG 's parts in Light Bulb.”
One individual said, “My sister said 'such an honor for him [yangyang] to perform a song so significant in tyong's careeer,' and i agree! this song means so much to him.” Another added, “Yangyang is absolutely killing it holy f**k.” One fan shared, “Yangyang really was the perfect choice for lightbulb i’m so happy.” One user tweeted, “I want a studio version of lightbulb with yangyang so bad i’m crying it was so good.”

NCT, which is managed by SM Entertainment, had issued a formal statement a few days prior to the main event. According to the publication Soompi, the statement read, “Hello. This is SM Entertainment. We ask for the understanding of fans. Member Taeyong’s herniated disk in his lower back has relapsed, so he will inevitably be absent from all scheduled activities including the Beyond LIVE – NCT: RESONANCE [Global Wave]. We ask for the generous understanding of fans, and we will do our best for Taeyong’s treatment so he can fully focus on recovering his health. Thank you." Speaking of the event, NCT: Resonance 'Global Wave' reunited all 23 NCT members for a one-of-a-kind virtual show hosted by Vlive.
