Netflix's 'Say I Do' featuring surprise weddings between diverse couples leaves fans crying happy tears

One of the teams consists of Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent, the hosts of 'Nate and Jeremiah: Save My House'. Wondering just who this husband duo is? Keep reading!

Who is Nate Berkus

Nathan Jay Berkus, popular known as Nate Berkus is an interior designer, author, TV personality and a known name in the world of design. Having started his design firm, Nate Berkus Associates, fresh out of college in 1995, Berkus has been making headlines since the start of his career. His claim to fame came in 2002 when he became a regularly featured guest on 'The Oprah Winfrey Show'. Post this, he went on to host several shows, including 'Oprah's Big Give' and 'The Nate Berkus Show'. In 2017, TLC signed Berkus and his husband Brent to host the 'Nate & Jeremiah by Design'. The couple also hosts 'Nate and Jeremiah: Save My House' on HGTV.

Who is Jeremiah Brent

An interior designer and TV personality, Jeremiah Brent moved to Los Angeles at the age of 19, where he spent a year living on friends' couches and out of his Jeep. His big break came in 2011, when he became the styling associate to Rachel Zoe on 'The Rachel Zoe Project'. He went to work on shows such as 'Home Made Simple' and later was the co-host of 'Nate & Jeremiah by Design' alongside his husband, Nate Berkus. He is also the design expert on Netflix's 'Say I Do', the wedding version of 'Queer Eye'.

How did the couple meet?

Nate Berkus' journey to finding love is heartbreaking. Before meeting Brent, Berkus was in a relationship with Fernando Bengoechea. In 2004, the couple were holidaying in Sri Lanka, when a tsunami ravaged the country. While Berkus survived, Bengoechea was missing and presumed dead. Moving on from such a grave loss was far from easy, however, that changed when Brent came along. The two had been friends for years, but a chance reunion at a friend's party changed everything. In an interview with Hillary Sawchuk for her 'A Drink With' series, Brent revealed that it only took 10 seconds for him to realise that Berkus was the one. "We were friends for years and then we randomly ran into each other at a mutual friend’s birthday party. He said, 'We should go out antique shopping,' because I was in New York for the weekend and I thought, 'Great. Can’t wait to go antique shopping.'" Turns out, that's all it took for the two to find love.

The couple have two children together

The couple tied the knot in 2014 and have two children (via surrogacy) together, Poppy Brent-Berkus and Oskar Michael Brent-Berkus. The story behind Oskar's name is quite touching, seeing that Berkus' late partner, Fernando Bengoechea's middle name was Oskar.

What is the couple's net worth?

Apart from being TV hosts, the couple also have a range of brand endorsements and modelling contracts together. Brent's net worth stands at $1 million, while Berkus' is a whopping $18 million, according to Celebrity Networth. With their sizeable incomes it comes as no surprise that the two owned a 1920s Mediterranean-style 8,500-square-foot home in Los Angeles valued at $13.8 million. They sold the house for $11.35 million and moved to Manhattan in 2019.
