'Nancy Drew': Could Tiffany and Lucy be the same person? Fans sure think so

A recent fan theory suggests that Tiffany and Lucy could be the same person! Hear them out.

Spoilers ahead for 'Nancy Drew'

The first act of The CW's Nancy Drew got us involved in the murder of Tiffany Hudson (Sinead Curry).

Tiffany Hudson is murdered right outside the diner that Nancy (Kennedy McMann), George (Leah Lewis), Ace (Alex Saxon) and Bess (Maddison Jaizani) work at. She visits the Claw with her husband Ryan Hudson (Riley Smith) and three of his friends, who get inside the diner for a meal while she eats out. In a bid to capture some festive fireworks, Nancy happens to position her phone camera exactly in the direction of Tiffany Hudson.

The camera happens to record Tiffany's murder and much to their surprise the video shows Tiffany being killed by Dead Lucy. Lucy is Horseshoe Bay's infamous prom queen who wore her crown for only one night before falling tragically to her death, and since then has been haunting the town, according to legends. Several episodes later, Nancy finds the bloody dress worn by Lucy in her attic, which confirms notions that she was killed.

Since Tiffany's murder, Nancy and her friends along with her boyfriend Nick (Tunji Kasim) who got to the crime shortly after the murder, find themselves as prime suspects. And Nancy sets on on an investigation of her own into the murder of Tiffany. But this investigation is haunted by Dead Lucy - not necessarily hindering it but almost facilitating it.

A recent fan theory, however, suggests that Tiffany and Lucy are the same person! Hear them out.

"My crack theory, so far, is that Tiffany was, in fact, Lucy," begins Reddit user Oxbridgecomma. "Because of the CW principle of "if you don't see a body, they're not dead - and sometimes even when you do see a body, they're still alive", I'm heavily guessing that Lucy was still alive at the start of the series. Even though it's early in the series, we don't have a lot of background on Tiffany - but it seems like, from her interactions with Nick and the rehabilitation of the inn, that the theme of redemption/ starting a new life is pretty heavily tied to her."

Last episode, Ryan told his attorney Carson Drew (Scott Wolf) that Tiffany was restoring Lilac Inn, a local bed-and-breakfast and was putting a lot of her money in the project. Nick has also revealed in the last episode that Tiffany regretted testifying against him once she knew the truth and paid him several visits in jail. Over time, they formed an unlikely friendship

"The side theory to that is that Tiffany may be a friend/relative of Lucy, and that someone (maybe even Lucy?) killed her to keep her quiet. That leaves us with the question of the ghost. First, because of the Rita reveal in the last episode, I think we can assume that there are truly supernatural elements in the show - and that it's not a manifestation of guilt. However, at the end of the first episode - we have two other dead women: Tiffany and Nancy's mother. Perhaps there was even another woman killed that night in Lucy's stead."

This theory also helps make sense of the involvement of Carson and Nancy's mother in this situation - and how they got the dress in their attic. "And Carson helped create a new life for her after someone tried to kill her which is why he had the dress and why Mommy Drew encouraged her to connect with Nick."

'Nancy Drew' airs on Wednesdays at 9 pm ET/PT.
