Doja Cat is having a ball at the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards, going from a stunning performance of her songs 'Say So' and 'Like That' to winning the PUSH Best New Artist award, presented by Chime Banking.

The MTV Video Music Award for Push Best New Artist has been awarded since the inception of the VMAs in 1984, previously as the Best New Artist in a Video award before its name was changed to Best New Artist in 2007. This year, however, the award was merged with the Push Artist of the Year award to create the Push Best New Artist award. The original award essentially took into account a specific song and video from the artiste off their debut release. Doja, with her highly successful song 'Say So' off her second studio album, 2019's 'Hot Pink', is being celebrated by many who think she truly deserved this win. Rather hilariously, however, most fans had no idea what the PUSH award was but celebrated Doja nonetheless.

"DOJA CAT BEST NEW PUSH ARTIST WHATEVER THE CATEGORY WAS BUT WHATEVER IT WAS DESERVED," tweeted one fan, while another said, "DOJA CAT WON BEST PUSH NEW SOMETHING I’M PROUD OF HER." And one fan, evidently a little more aware of what award the artiste won, shared, "DOJA CAT WON PUSH ARTIST WE ARE WINNING SO MUCH TONIGHT."

Not everyone was celebrating, though. The other nominations for the category included Jack Harlow, Lewis Capaldi, Roddy Ricch, Tate McRae and Yungblud. And fans weren't happy that Doja managed to beat acts like Capaldi to secure the award. "Honestly pissed that Doja cat won push best new artist," stated one viewer, while another tweeted, "I KNOW I DID N O T JUST STAY UP UNTIL 3 AM FOR DOJA CAT TO WIN PUSH BEST NEW ARTIST." Several pointed out that Doja had been canceled earlier this year, and believed that was a major reason she did not deserve to win. One tweet read, "Doja Cat did not deserve push new best artist ur canceled sis, Lewis Capaldi should’ve won."

Others, however, disagreed, stating it would have made little sense if she hadn't won the award. One commenter stated, "Doja Cat losing the Push Best New Artist award to Lewis Capaldi or Yungblud would’ve been a travesty. Her win is massively deserved."
