MTV VMAs 2020: Miley Cyrus stuns with iconic 'Wrecking Ball' moment, sends 'Midnight Sky' back to Top #10 spot

As Miley Cyrus rocked the stage with her 'Midnight Sky' performance, music lovers couldn't help but drool over her 'Wrecking Ball' reference

As one of the biggest musical nights of the year, MTV VMAs 2020, aired live this Sunday, August 30, exclusively on MTV, all eyes were set on Miley Cyrus. The singer-songwriter stunned fans in a super sexy see-through polka-dotted maxi dress with matching sleeves. Accenting her look with a bright red lip and jewelry by Loree Rodkin, she made viewers go weak in the knees.

Initially set to be held at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, New York City, on August 30, for the first time since 2013, the star-studded event was hosted by Keke Palmer and the 90-minute pre-show was hosted by Nessa Diab and Jamila Mustafa. Teasing her performance, MTV tweeted: "Our girl @MileyCyrus has us all gazing at the #MidnightSky tonight! #VMAs."

As she rocked the stage with her ‘Midnight Sky’ performance, music lovers couldn't help but drool over it. "The way Miley Cyrus can't lip sync for sh*t though (yes all the #VMAs performances used pre-recorded vocals for quality). Just shows how authentic she is as an artist and clearly a vocalist," one fan praised her. Another said, "Thank you Queen @mileycyrus for the awesome performance of Midnight Sky you truly never disappoint I love you Queen Miley you were just amazing and you looked absolutely beautiful!!"

But, most of all, it was her iconic 'Wrecking Ball' moment that caught all the attention. "Miley Cyrus Re-created Her Iconic 'Wrecking Ball' Moment at the 2020 MTV VMAs," one fan posted. Another said, "By far tonight was my fav @MileyCyrus performance by far and felt like her most authentic performance. PS nice redo of wrecking ball #MileyCyrus #VMAs."

THE VISUALS, THE PRODUCTION, THE VOCALS! And that wrecking disco ball reference, SHE KILLED THAT PERFORMANCE! #VMAs." One went on to say: "In wrecking ball her heart was shattered by her loved one but in midnight sky she put all the broken pieces of her heart to shine and run to live the best life. Miley Cyrus I'm so proud of your growth as a human."

Soon after her performance, ‘Midnight Sky’ climbed up the charts to re-enter the US top 10 list on iTunes. "iTunes US: #10 Midnight Sky by @MileyCyrus," one tweet read and another said, "iTunes USA: 10. #MidnightSky - @MileyCyrus (+2) *Peak #2*."
