MTV VMAs 2020: Ariana Grande-Justin Bieber's 'Stuck with U' wins Video From Home award, fans say 'well deserved'
While there’s plenty to sulk about in 2020, there are things to be happy about as well — for instance, the MTV Video Music Awards. It is happening outdoors keeping the safety concerns in mind and it was announced that the show will be broadcast from multiple open-air locations. As far as live audiences go, the show had kept its options open, to have either “limited” or “no” audience at the sites where performances took place on August 30.
The award ceremony was hosted by actress, singer and talk show personality Keke Palmer. Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga lead the nominations with nine nominations each. This will be the first time that the ceremony will be hosted in Brooklyn, since 2013. In addition to the usual categories, MTV added two new categories aimed at acknowledging music created during the pandemic: Best Music Video From Home and Best Quarantine Performance.
The Best Music Video From Home award went to Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber for ‘Stuck with U’. The award was presented by Madison Beer. Twitter immediately reacted to the news. One fan said, "I literally vote many times for sticking with u, @ArianaGrande and @justinbieber they deserve it, they are the best, thank you for giving us your music in these difficult times, they simply made me happy my worst days, they are very important to me. I love you from Colombia #MVAs"

In May, as reported by Billboard, the duo announced their collaboration and said the proceeds from the album will go to the First Responders Children's Foundation. The music video for the song was a combination of clips sent by fans who couldn't attend prom this year and others who were spending time with loved ones during quarantine.
The other nominees in the category included 5 Seconds of Summer (‘Wildflower’), blink-182 (‘Happy Days’), Drake (‘Toosie Slide’), John Legend ‘Bigger Love’ and Twenty One Pilots (‘Level of Concern’).
USA Today had earlier reported that New York had relaxed the isolation requirements for VMA performers. In a statement, the New York State Department of Health, as per the report, said MTV had requested and received permission for the artists to perform in New York despite coming from states on the quarantine list. However, the agency had stated that the VMA performers were required to follow similar restrictions as Major League Baseball players and other professional athletes who have to stay in their hotel or living accommodations when not doing anything related to their work.
Some of the big performances of the night included artistes Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, BTS, The Weeknd, and others.
