Dua Lipa bagged the award for the Best Visual Effects for her song, 'Physical' at the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards. The single 'Physical' features in her second studio album 'Future Nostalgia'. Previously, in an interview with Billboards, Dua said that she didn't expect so many people to like the wildly energetic 'Physical', comparing it to a strongly-flavored, polarizing British spread. "Not because obviously I don't believe in the song like I love the song and it's my baby," she admitted. "But I also felt like it was a bit like Marmite because it's so in your face. I didn't think everybody would be into it." The song has received critical appreciation worldwide, Chris Taylor of The Line of Best Fit called it "this decade's perfect workout song," whereas Jordan Emery regarded the song among "the most well crafted and fun pop songs heard in recent memory," saying it "throws you around the room with its frenetic intensity."

With scintillating performances from BTS, The Black Eyed Peas, DaBaby, The Weeknd, Doja Cat, Maluma with CNCO, and Lady Gaga, the VMAs surely made our Sunday brighter. However, this year's event looked a little different than usual amid the coronavirus pandemic. Every year the event mostly takes place at the Barclays Center, but this year, the artistes took to stage in audience-less locations around New York City to adhere to social distancing guidelines.

Who were the other nominees?

Billie Eilish – 'All the Good Girls Go to Hell'

Demi Lovato – 'I Love Me'

Harry Styles – 'Adore You'

Lady Gaga with Ariana Grande – 'Rain On Me'

Travis Scott – 'Highest in the Room'

One happy fan tweeted the announcement of Dua's win on her page saying, "The music video for 'Physical' wins 'Best Visual Effects' at the #VMAs Congrats to EIGHTY4, Mathematic and @DUALIPA!" Another fan wrote, "DUA WON BEST VISUAL EFFECTS AS SHE SHOULD," and a third said, "My girl deserves better but congrats to @DUALIPA."

However, not all social media users were happy with Dua's win. One user slammed the singer and said, "Dua herself ain't win nothing, but whoever did the visual effects for 'Physical' won Best Visual Effects."

Meanwhile, a dejected Harry Styles fan commented, "#WatermelonSugar lost the category 'Song of the Summer' #AdoreYou  lost the category of 'Best Direction /Best Art Direction/Best Visual Effects' Harry lost at 4 of them... #VMAs"
