Spoilers ahead for Episode 8 'The Race Grows Sweeter Near Its Final Lap' of Amazon Prime Video's 'Modern Love'

The finale for 'Modern Love', 'The Race Grows Sweeter Near Its Final Lap', begins with Jane Alexander's Margot mourning the loss of her husband Kenji (James Saito).

They met very late in life during running practice but bond instantly. They do everything that new love does: butterflies, sleepless nights, growing a garden together, even moving in. Shortly afterward, they get married and share a limited but blissful time together until Kenji's death.

At his funeral, a devastated Margot talks about the challenges of old love and the advantages of a relationship that blooms later in life — even if it isn't going to sustain.

"Old love is different. More realistic maybe? When we met, we had been through enough of life's ups and downs to know who we were, and we had learned to compromise."

"We knew something about death because we had seen loved ones die. We were no longer so pretty, but we were not so neurotic either. We had survived loss and mistakes and ill-considered decisions and we thought that if this relationship failed, we'd survive that too."

'The Race Grows Sweeter Near Its Final Lap' marks a touching conclusion to the series featuring sweet snippets, updates, recaps of the previous stories.

It is heart-touching, adding a warm touch to the anthology series. 'Modern Love' is a series you don't want to miss on. Based on the article by Eve Pell and directed by Tom Hall, the finale encapsulates the entire series in its finale.

Amazon Prime has done an admirable job bringing these wholesome slice-of-life stories that are technically everywhere but take the right channel to make an impact. Hopeful, honest and raw, 'Modern Love' is mesmerizing and painful in its realities at the same time.

All eight episodes of 'Modern Love' are currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
