When will 'Mixed-ish' return? 'Black-ish' spinoff set to return with new episodes after the winter break
The fall finale for 'Mixed-ish' aired this Tuesday and for the first time, we met Alicia's parents as well. We learn a little bit more about Alicia as the episode explored the dynamics she shares with her family.
Moreover, Alicia's and Paul's fathers compete with each other to become their grandkids' favorite grandfather. As "white grandpa" and "black grandpa" battle it out, surely the kids, Santamonica and Johan are the real winners.
Now that the Christmas episode has aired, 'Mixed-ish' will go on a break for the holiday season. But the favorite 'Black-ish' spinoff will be back sooner than you know it. In fact, the show is off the screens for less than a month.
While Bow struggles with her identity and learning that she is biracial, we also see her parents struggle to readjust to their lives outside the commune. Paul decides to be a stay-at-home dad while Alicia joins her father-in-law, Harrison's law firm. Harrison and Denise -- Alicia's sister -- round out the family as we see the four adults -- sometimes hopelessly -- trying to advise the three children as they learn to live their lives.
'Mixed-ish' is a favorite among its viewers for the way it handles many issues like code-switching and black hair. With a few history lessons interspersed during the episodes, 'Mixed-ish' is the perfect addition to family TV nights.
Starring Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Tika Sumpter, Arica Himmel, Mykal-Michelle Harris, Ethan William Childress, Christina Anthony, and Gary Cole, 'Mixed-ish' is the second spinoff from the original 'Black-ish', following the Zoey-centered (Yara Shahidi) 'Grown-ish'. All three shows were created by Kenya Barris.
'Mixed-ish' will return with new episodes on January 7, 2020 and viewers will get to see more of Rainbow "Bow" Jackson growing up and adjusting to her life outside the commune she had known her whole life.
