It turns out that the sudden school bullying rumors of K-pop idols in early 2021 were truly a systematic attack by antis and trolls. We have once again another idol Mirae’s Khael who had been targeted, announcing that he had been cleared and the supposed victim had made up the accusations. Back in 2021, alleged victims had spoken up against several idols like Seventeen’s Mingyu, Stray Kids’ Hyunjin, April’s Naeun, and more. Fortunately, they all turned out to be false.

One of the idols who was targeted also happened to be Khael of the then pre-debut group Mirae. They were set to debut on March 17, 2021, but on March 3, a post went viral. The Knetizen who had created the post in 2019 shared that Khael had been a school bully and had beaten up his classmates, provoked them and started fights. He also apparently used to smoke, drink and make lewd comments. The post had been initially created when he was competing in the K-pop survival show ‘Under Nineteen’ and again came to the spotlight when he was going to debut in 2021.

Accuser apologizes to Mirae's Khael

Finally, a year later in May, it seems that Khael’s name has finally been cleared. Mirae fans finally rejoiced as his label DSP Media shared that the K-pop idol was innocent. They shared that immediately after the rumors resurfaced, testimonies came in from his acquaintances that he was innocent. Additionally, the school records proved that the rumors were false, following which DSP took legal action against the accuser.

With school bullying being extremely violent in South Korea, the general public drops a celebrity on the slightest of rumors. DSP shared that the accuser had spread false rumors out of a “sense of entitlement”. The accuser also personally apologized, “What I wrote on February 2, 2019, was all my lies and false statements that were not true.” The accuser shared that he lied after seeing Khael on TV in ‘Under Nineteen’ survival show and felt jealous. And while they did go to the same school, all of the rumors were false.

The user shared that they would be reflecting on their actions and apologized for hurting Khael and Mirae’s fans with the rumors. They added, “The fact that I have caused suffering and harm to the people around me because of the sins I have committed while looking at the comments on that post is unforgivable.”

'Just cruel & pathetic'

Fans are angry as one tweeted, “We need prison time for false accusers, this happens CONSTANTLY and people only do it because there’s not consequence they can just make a persons life hell for the f**k of it.” Another fan said, “Sangmin love his people so much. Watched him since U19, am clapped in happiness when saw him again w DSP N & debut as MIRAE Khael. From that time until today, he keep saying he miss & love his people(member & fan). Wish for smooth flowering path for him after clearance yesterday.”

One added, “I don't get why people accuse other people of doing something like this even tho they know it's not true. They probably want to feel better about themselves & have the power to ruin someone. Ruining someone else's life even tho they are innocent is just cruel & pathetic.” Another fan posted, “It took them years to finally muster up the courage to apologize for their wrongdoing. imagine the mental damage it caused him for accusing and spreading rumors about something he didn't do. khael endured so much for the past years and im so proud of him.”
