In early 2021, there was a systematic attack on K-pop idols by trolls who alleged that they were school bullies. With school violence being extremely violent in South Korea, the general public drops any celebrity with even a single rumor. Fortunately, most of the allegations made against these idols like Seventeen’s Mingyu, GOT7’s Youngjae, Stray Kids’ Hyunjin and April’s Naeun turned out to be false. But (G)I-DLE’s Soojin had one of the most tragic cases.

The female idol too was accused of bullying a friend by the victim’s sister. With Soojin pointing out all of the loopholes in the accuser’s story in detail, some fans and Knetizens still sided with her. We then had (G)I-DLE’s label, CUBE putting her on hiatus which had fans wondering if they would resolve the matter. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case as they then ended up terminating their contract with Soojin and she was made to leave her K-pop group. While fans were disheartened, there seemed to be a silver lining on May 11 as BPM was rumored to sign her.

BPM denies signing Ex-(G)I-DLE star Soojin

After Soojin was made to leave (G)I-DLE, she disappeared from the public. Fans have been patiently waiting for her return and hoping that she can clear her name and re-debut again. On May 11, a Korean news outlet reported that Soojin had decided to sign with Big Planet Made, a new K-pop label that houses artists like ex-Sistar member Soyou, Viviz, ex-NU’EST star Ren, Ha Sungwoon of Wanna One fame, ‘rookie monster’ Lee Mujin and more.

But hours later, BPM personally made a statement that dashed fans’ hope. They addressed the alleged report and said that they had not signed with Soojin. BPM said, “We have never met Soojin. The reports on the contract are groundless.”

‘Kinda harsh’

Some fans were sad as one tweeted, “They didn't have to denied THAT fast and in THIS way 😭it's kinda harsh.” One fan still stayed optimistic, “We were all so happy and now that’s been shattered. Soojin’s not coming back. FOR NOW. I still have hope.” Another posted, “Me all this year waiting for soojin’s news.” One fan shared, “Well, then.. this is your chance.” Another said, “PNation is the answer :) I hope psy get our Soojin.” One was ready to wait for her, “Wherever you are, I hope you're well and happy. We're still waiting but take all the time you need!!! We love you so much this is nothing.” Another fan added, “If you haven't met soojin well you should meet soojin that's all im saying.”
