Miley Cyrus will be performing for the iconic show MTV Unplugged from her backyard. The show, titled 'MTV Unplugged Presents Miley Cyrus Backyard Sessions', will feature Cyrus covering various artists she's a fan of, as well as her own hits. Announcing the show, Cyrus took to Twitter and wrote, "Backyard Sessions on MTV."

'MTV Unplugged Presents Miley Cyrus Backyard Sessions' is scheduled to air exclusively on MTV on Friday, October 16, at 7 pm in the US live from the pop star's LA backyard. You can watch the video teaser below.

Some of the songs Cyrus will perform include 'Gimme More' by Britney Spears along with covers of songs by Pearl Jam, the Cardigans and more. She’ll also perform a selection of her own hits and her new single 'Midnight Sky'.

This isn't the first time Cyrus will be performing live from the backyard. She previously performed at a Backyard Sessions event in 2015 to support her Happy Hippie Foundation which focuses on youth homelessness, LGBTQ+ community and other vulnerable populations. Her previous performance was memorable as she sang alongside Laura Jane Grace, lead singer of punk rock band Against Me!. Cyrus and Jane Grace sang the Against Me! song 'Transgender Dysphoria Blues' during the show which was very well received by the fans.

Also, back in 2014, Cyrus hosted an MTV Unplugged session alongside Madonna following the release of her album 'Bangerz'.

The 'Wrecking Ball' hitmaker has been covering multiple classics lately such as Blondie’s 'Heart of Glass' and Hall & Oates’ 'Maneater'. She also covered Billie Eilish’s 'My Future'. Cyrus' latest single, 'Midnight Sky', was released in August and she performed the song at the 2020 VMAs. The track reached #14 on the Billboard Hot 100 and will be included on her upcoming seventh studio album titled 'She is Miley Cyrus'. 'Younger Now', her last studio album released in September 2017, debuted at #5 on the Billboard 200 behind Shania Twain's 'Now', Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers' 'Greatest Hits', Demi Lovato's 'Tell Me You Love Me' and A Boogie wit da Hoodie's 'The Bigger Artist'.

MTV Unplugged, on the other hand, has been around since 1989 and aired regularly till 1999. Some of the most iconic performances on the show have been by artists such as Eric Clapton, Mariah Carey, Rod Stewart, 10,000 Maniacs, Tony Bennett, Page and Plant, Nirvana, Los Tres, Alice in Chains, Shakira, La Ley, Ricky Martin, Lauryn Hill and Alicia Keys. In 2020, after the Covid-19 pandemic began, MTV launched MTV Unplugged At Home, which has featured musicians Wyclef Jean, JoJo, Yungblud, Alessia Cara, Melissa Etheridge, Finneas, Jewel, Shaggy, Kiana Ledé, Monsta X, Bazzi and Clueso.
