Miley Cyrus has treated her fans with a brand-new sound to welcome in the new year. The 'Just Do It' singer released 'Flowers', the lead single from her upcoming album 'Endless Summer Vacation', and some believe it may be a sly dig at her ex-husband Liam Hemsworth.

To begin with, Cyrus opted to release the song on Hemsworth's birthday, and the song's lyrics—which include the line "I can love me better, baby"—left fans with the notion that the song might be about her life after her breakup with the 'The Last Song' star. And it doesn't stop there; in the line "We were right 'til we weren't / Built a home and watched it burn," Cyrus seems to be referring to the Woolsey fire, which destroyed their Malibu home. The song's lyrics, "I didn't want to leave you, sweetheart / I didn't want to quarrel," seem to refer to the arguments that made her realize that this relationship couldn't last, further supporting the aforementioned notion.

Furthermore, Cyrus's line about not wanting to leave could be a reference to rumors that circulated around the time of her breakup with Hemsworth, according to which she wanted to make amends. She reportedly fought for their marriage up until the week Hemsworth unexpectedly filed for divorce, according to TMZ.

Even on Twitter, a number of fans have expressed their opinions, with one person writing, "Liam Hemsworth found dead age 33 following release of new Miley Cyrus song Flowers." Another fan noted, "The fact that @MileyCyrus dropped #flowers on Liam’s birthday 👏🏼👏🏼 #Savage."

This other fan who could sense Hemsworth crying wrote, "Has anybody checked on Liam for a pulse I think I heard him crying from here. FLOWERS @MileyCyrus @mileyworld." Another fan remarked, "Liam Hemsworth’s career is being Miley Cyrus’s Ex Husband & Chris Hemsworths Brother #flowers."

One true fan wrote, "Since I can't sleep, I made it to the midnight release of 'Flowers' which I love. We might have expected a dig at her relationship with Liam, which it is, but respectfully. But more so, it's an ode to self-worth/love - very much a fan of the lyrics & video! #MileyCyrus."
