James Bond star George Lazenby wants Liam Hemsworth to take over the '007 role'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Ex-James Bond star George Lazenby wants Liam Hemsworth to take over the 'James Bond' franchise after Daniel Craig's departure from the gig. The 83-year-old Australian actor who played the Bond role in 1969 sees Hemsworth, 32 as the perfect fit for the role.
Hemsworth is "crazy enough, arrogant enough, confident enough, ambitious enough to take on the role," said Lazenby who finds the Aussie star a ballsy one to give life to the character of the spy thriller franchise. The actor added that an Australian actor fits well as he told that the new James Bond has to be someone who also resides "under the Commonwealth," according to TMZ.

Lazenby said that Hemsworth is a "good-looking Aussie dude" and is someone who is young enough to be able to make his continuous appearance in the coming years of the series. He previously told that a 'ballsy' James Bond could be made into action by Australian actress Margot Robbie.
At the time, the star wanted Daniel Craig's replacement to be a female for the franchise. "I would rather see a woman on screen than a man, so it might be a good idea to have a woman play James Bond... Jane Bond. I think it's a good idea," said Lazenby who wants the 32-year-old 'Birds of Prey' star, 32, to play the superspy character.
"I mean, why not? There's an Australian actress that I was just listening to on the television today, Margot Robbie. She would be good. She's ballsy. She comes across like she's very confident... if you can pull that off, people will believe you," he added.
However, Barbara Broccoli, the James Bond producer opposed the idea as she is "not interested" in the cinema's iconic character being done by a female. Craig, 54, has now created a vacant space for the new 'Bond' after he has acted in five of the franchise's films, 'No Time To Die (Flashback)', 'Casino Royale', 'Spectre', 'Skyfall' and 'Quantum of Solace'.
Amid rumors of Aaron Taylor-Johnson going to be the next 007 after he met the James Bond producers last week and discussed the popular character after Craig exited the gig. 'No Time To Die' was his last Bond film with the franchise.
Playing the secret agent in just one movie, 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service' in 1969, he was nominated for the Golden Globe for his role. Lazenby who was 29 years old at the time while playing the character, was the youngest to take up the role and he was also a male model back then. However, he turned down the chance to play the role again and is "just not interested" in the franchise anymore.
Lazenby quit the role which led to a dive for the star's career. In the 1970's he also worked in real estate and then made his comeback to the screens. Back into the espionage game, Lazenby will be starring as Dr. Jason Love, the reluctant spy in an audio series.
