Michelle Williams engaged to 'Fosse/Verdon' director Thomas Kail and expecting their first child together
Academy Award-nominated and Emmy Award-winning actress, Michelle Williams has gotten engaged to Tony Award-winning director, Thomas Kail, according to People. The pair are also expecting their first child together. However, the actress has not commented publicly yet.
According to the report, the two were photographed together in London where 39-year-old Williams is currently filming 'Venom 2'. She was also spotted buying baby clothes at Seraphine's maternity boutique in Kensington.
While details on when Williams and 42-year-old Kail met are unclear, they are most likely to have met on the sets of FX's 'Fosse/Verdon' in which Williams played the Emmy Award-winning role of Gwen Verdon and Kail was a director and executive producer on the series.
Williams was previously married to musician Phil Elverum, however, they split less than a year after their secret wedding. Williams also dated late actor Heath Ledger, whom she met on the sets of the film 'Brokeback Mountain' from 2004 to 2007.
Williams gave birth to their daughter, Matilda in 2005. Ledger passed away in 2008.
Kail is known for directing the Off-Broadway and Broadway productions of Lin-Manuel Miranda's musicals 'In the Heights' and 'Hamilton', the latter for which he won the Tony Award. He also won an Emmy for directing 'Grease: Live'.
In an interview with Vanity Fair in 2018, Williams said she never gave up on love. She said, "I always say to Matilda, 'Your dad loved me before anybody thought I was talented, or pretty, or had nice clothes'."
Though Williams wishes to keep her personal life private, she told the publication that she chooses to speak on her life in the even it helps others. She said, "What if somebody who has always journeyed in this way, who has struggled as much as I struggled, and looked as much as I looked, finds something that helps them?"
She has also spoken about finding love, saying, "Don't settle. Don't settle for something that feels like a prison or is hard, or hurts you. If it doesn’t feel like love, it's not love."
