'The Flash': Michael Keaton in talks to reprise Dark Knight role in Ezra Miller film, fans say 'You are Batman'
Guess it's actually time to use the word, Batman returns. Again. And rightfully so as Michael Keaton is all set to suit up as Batman once again in DCEU's 'The Flash'.
The 68-year-old who played Bruce Wayne/Batman in the Tim Burton-directed Batman features is in talks to reprise the role in 'The Flash' starring Ezra Miller. Keaton starred in the 1989 film, 'Batman' and while initially garnering flak for not matching the traits of the comic version, the movie went on to become a hit among masses and he was back again in 'Batman Returns' in 1992. Keaton then starred in 2014's Birdman before showing up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Adrian Toomes/Vulture in 'Spider-Man: Homecoming'.
For now, word on the street is that 'The Flash' involves time travel and inter-dimensional travel. According to THR's sources, Keaton's role is much similar to Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) in the MCU where he serves as a guide/mentor of sorts. Ezra Miller is slated to reprise his role as Barry Allen/The Flash from 'Justice League' and the film is helmed by Andy Muschietti. And Twitter has been busy.
"You are Batman. Can't wait to see you back," a fan tweeted. This was followed by an avalanche of tweets from excited fans.
"Old Man Bruce? Like, Batman Beyond-era Bruce? I dig it" a fan wrote. "That what it looks like they're going for. We'll get to see how his Batman as faired over the past 30 years. I'm sure he's a lot like Bruce (hardened and grizzled) from Batman Beyond," a fan wrote. "Imagine the reaction this would have had at Comic-Con," a fan opined. "As long as Affleck and Jeffrey Dean Morgan are back then ok," a fan said. "Exciting news about Keaton. Too bad that Miller is still attached to the project," read a tweet.
"Bringing back the old guard, aye that’s gonna be sick," a fan remarked. "No, he is still playing the Thomas Wayne batman. Michael Keaton would be Bruce Wayne of another universe," a fan theorized.
Theories apart, there was just a collective reaction that expressed excitement and nostalgia. "I may not be a Flash fan, but Keaton will make wanna go watch the film,' a fan tweeted.
