In the aftermath of the events of the first episode of 'Messiah', CIA agent Eva Geller travels to Israel in the second episode. To recap, the "Messiah" escaped the custody of the Israeli security agency.

Israeli agent, Aviram Dahan, who was interrogating the man is now under suspicion as his superiors find out that he erased the tape of his interrogation.

Eva gets her man to keep an eye on Aviram and gets her all the details about him. During Aviram's debriefing, she tells him it is too much of a coincidence that the video at the time of the "Messiah" escaping is also missing.

Meanwhile, the 2000 Palestinian Syrian refugees that the "Messiah" led are still waiting at the Israeli border — without food or water.

News coverage of their plight begins to put pressure on the Israeli government to give them asylum. When the refugees learn that the "Messiah" has escaped custody, they rejoice, though one questions why he hasn't returned to them yet.

The "Messiah" does turn up, however, at the Temple Mount — a highly sacred site for both Jews and Muslims. There, while he is preaching, Israeli police forces show up at the holy site, prompting people to panic.

When a shot is seemingly fired, a woman screams that the police have shot dead a boy. While everyone is screaming and chaos unfolds, the "Messiah" walks to the boy and places his hands on the bullet wound, after which the boy wakes up — to the shock of everyone around him.

Eva then goes to the Temple Mount to find out more about the situation, but the "Messiah" has disappeared. She tries to find the boy who was seemingly brought back to life but learns that he had to leave his house as people kept clamoring to touch the boy who has been "touched by God".

In the same episode, we are also introduced to the Igueros. The father, Felix, is a reverend, while his wife, Anna is seemingly an alcoholic. Their daughter, Rebecca is sheltered but hates her family and town and wants to run away.

Meanwhile, Aviram believes he is being set up and tries to find a lead. He follows Eva to know whether she is in on it and it is clear that he does not trust her.

As the episode ends, he kidnaps Jibril, one of the Palestinian Syrian refugees, presumably to ask him what he knows about the "Messiah". All episodes of Season 1 of 'Messiah' are now streaming on Netflix.
