'He didn't cry': Meghan Trainor claims NICU nurses blamed her antidepressants for son's health problems

Trainor detailed the difficult times following the birth of her son in a recent interview with People. She talked about how her son would not be able to stay awake long enough for him to be fed and that the doctors never had an explanation for her or her husband as to why.

There was no clarity as to when his condition would improve, or if it ever will. She had also previously spoken about how her son was kept in the NICU for an extended time because of his trouble staying awake long enough to feed, according to a report by FOX News.

"It was just really frustrating not having an answer," the singer said. "Not having answers for why my kid didn't wake up for a week was very frustrating."

The 28-year-old singer also had a bone to pick with her nurses, who were quick to blame her for her son’s condition. She was told by all her nurses that her son’s condition was largely because of her being on anti-depressants. "They were like, 'Sometimes it happens,' and then some nurses were like, 'Well, it's because you're on antidepressants,'" Trainor said. "And I'm like, 'Yeah, but I've been told by others that it's not that.'”

The singer has let it be known that the harsh reality of the situation was lost on her until it was over and she began seeing her therapist for it. She has said that she is continuously plagued by nightmares about being back on the birthing bed and having a C-section done to her. It would seem that the whole experience has left a sour taste in both Trainor’s and her husband Sabara’s mouths and Trainor acknowledged that she harbored a fear of being pregnant again for months. "It's scary going into another pregnancy being like, 'Well, I hope that doesn't happen again.' Do I have to change up my whole life? I don't know," she explained. "So it's infuriating."

However, she is happy to let people know that despite the turbulent experience with regard to her first pregnancy, Trainor and Sabara are now trying to have another child.
