LONDON, UK: Meghan Markle allegedly wrote a letter to King Charles naming a royal who made a "skin color" comment about Prince Archie and accusing the monarchy of "unconscious bias" after her explosive Oprah interview in 2021, according to a UK daily. The Duchess of Sussex's letter was reportedly sent in reply to one from Charles himself.

It is also known that Meghan will not be joining Prince Harry for the Coronation on May 6 because she received an unsatisfactory response from the King, as per Daily Telegraph. Buckingham Palace claims Meghan's disgruntle could come after the initial correspondence about the Coronation made no reference to their children. This could be why the Duke will only partake in the celebration while Meghan looks after Prince Archie, on his fourth birthday, the same day as the coronation and one-year-old Princess Lilibet in Montecito, California. A friend of the Sussex's said, "played a factor in the couple's decision" and he expected it would be a "fairly quick trip to the UK" for Harry. Following the announcement, a royal observer said, "Charles will be pleased. The rest of the family will be relieved that Meghan won't be there - it would have been particularly uncomfortable for Kate," reported Daily Mail.

Commonwealth Day has a special significance this year, as 2019 marks the 70th anniversary of the modern Commonwealth, with old ties and new links enabling cooperation towards social, political and economic development which is both inclusive and sustainable. The Commonwealth represents a global network of 53 countries and almost 2.4 billion people, a third of the worlds population, of whom 60 percent are under 30 years old. Each year the Commonwealth adopts a theme upon which the Service is based. This years theme A Connected Commonwealth speaks of the practical value and global engagement made possible as a result of cooperation between the culturally diverse and widely dispersed family of nations, who work together in friendship and goodwill. The Commonwealths governments, institutions and people connect at many levels, including through parliaments and universities. They work together to protect the natural environment and the ocean which connects many Commonwealth nations, shore to shore. Cooperation on trade encourages inclusive economic empowerment for all people - particularly women, youth and marginalised communities. The Commonwealths friendly sporting rivalry encourages people to participate in sport for development and peace.

Royal rift worsens

It is speculated the royal family and the Sussexes have been awry after the latter starred in a six-part Netflix docu-series, followed by Harry's bombshell revealing memoir, 'Spare.' Charles is said to have been disappointed by Meghan and Harry's need to make such damaging allegations public. In January, Prince Harry touched on unconscious bias in an interview with Tom Bradby on ITV to promote his memoir. The presenter said "in the Oprah interview you accused members of your family of racism," Harry responded by saying "no I didn't," adding "the British press said that."

'The difference between racism and unconscious bias!'

After Bradby highlighted that the duchess claimed troubling comments were made about Archie's skin color, Harry said, "There was - there was concern about his skin color."

But when asked if he would describe that as racist, the duke said, "I wouldn't, not having lived within that family." Harry continued, "The difference between racism and unconscious bias, the two things are different. But once it's been acknowledged, or pointed out to you as an individual, or as an institution, that you have unconscious bias, you, therefore, have an opportunity to learn and grow from that in order so that you are part of the solution rather than part of the problem."

Internet users fumed over the leak of the letter and speculated the palace might be behind it. One user wrote, "everything they do is a joke." Another said, "Unconscious Bias i.e. RACISM." A third claimed, "Meghan wrote the letter over two years ago so why are they telling us about it now? Is it to throw Willy under the bus or is there a distraction needed for someone in the royal family or someone in government?" "It's going to be a long two weeks. We don't have any interesting stories on the Royals, other than William answers the phone. So lets have a go at Meghan, as it will give us the reaction we are looking for," read another comment
