Meghan Markle's 'Suits' co-star Wendell Pierce slams her 'insensitive' Oprah interview amid Covid-19 deaths
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry revealed some disturbing royal family secrets on their 90 minutes CBS primetime special on Sunday with iconic interviewer Oprah Winfrey. As is with every bombshell involving the royals and politics, there were many that took the couple's side in telling their truth, while others saw it as a betrayal to the monarch.
Either way, there were many opinions since the bombshell interview. While the hype behind the stories revealed in the interview is still raving, one of Meghan's former 'Suits' co-star, Wendell Pierce, came forward to add further criticisms to the interview. Wendell Pierce had the pandemic in mind.

Pierce worked with Meghan for four years on the hit series as her character's father but the 57-year-old was not happy that his former co-star and her husband conducted an interview during the "throes of death". He told LBC, "Today 3,000 people are going to die in America from COVID. A couple of hundred people are going to die, even this hour, in the UK." In fact, Pierce went as far as saying that the interview was "full of sound and fury signifying nothing."
He said, "It was quite insensitive and offensive that we are all complicit in this sort of palace… gossip in the midst of so much death. I think it is insignificant." The Daily Mail reported that when Pierce was asked who his criticisms were toward, he said "everyone" which would include Winfrey, CBS, ITV, the Suxxes' and the Palace. In fact, in an interview with LMB, the actor said that the monarchy should "focus on the throes of death that we're in".
Interestingly, his interview came on the day the Queen responded to her grandson's interview: she revealed that "while some recollections may vary", the "whole family is saddened" to hear of the Suxxes' "challenging few years". Many took to Twitter to drag Pierce for his hypocrisy and comments on the shocking interview.
After he was trolled to an extensive amount, the actor put out two tweets writing, "I just discovered my words are being used as an attack. Well done British Press. Clarity: The British monarchy is archaic in my American eyes. If slavery, colonialism and apartheid didn’t educate you that they are racist, you failed history." He added, "I was fortunate to tell Meghan personally I wish her all the best. Predicting this hellacious maelstrom I also told her she would always have a friend in me. Because I had no interest in the interview doesn’t change that."

'Get over yourself, Wendell'
"Breaking News : Meghan Markle's former co-star Wendell Pierce slams her and Harry for interview during pandemic in an interview during pandemic," wrote one user. Another added, "I don’t believe you and I am not sure you are really Meghan’s friend anymore. Maybe you’ve been here too long and gone native because your ‘friend’ revealed that she had been driven to the brink of suicide and your response was to complain about the timing of the interview..."
Yet another user tweeted, "'I just discovered my words are being used as an attack.' - get over yourself, Wendell. The British press just reported what you said, no more, no less. However archaic the British monarchy may be, that doesn't mean someone now can just make up things as they go along."
"@WendellPierce STFU. Don’t tell me that all you do is sit at home worried about the pandemic. Life is going on and racism and misogyny must be addressed even during a pandemic. No one even knows who you are so maybe you’re trying to be relevant. Wrong move," added another.

People were quick to make Pierce realize how his words mattered with one user writing, "In case you need a reminder of how far you shoved your whole ass foot in your mouth, HERE is the Daily Mail’s headline" along with sharing a screenshot of the article where the headline of the story reads, "Meghan gets a dressing down."

There were also some supporters of Pierce's reaction to the interview. One user wrote, "I don't think your words are being used to attack and I applaud you for getting some perspective in the way this is being played out. People's lives are more important than two people publicly scoring points rather than keeping matters private or picking up the phone." Another added, "What a legend @WendellPierce is. I presume Shelagh thought he was coming on her show to offer a sympathetic opinion on his former Suits co-star Meghan, only to be met with a sobering view on the pure insignificance of Harry & Meghans dramas in this time of global illness. " The actor retweeted the latter to his own profile as well.
