Meghan Markle 'surprised' and 'disappointed' to find Prince Harry had 'very little money', claims royal expert
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: According to a royal biographer, Meghan Markle had high expectations for Prince Harry's financial worth, imagining him to be worth hundreds of millions, if not billions. Royal biographer Tom Bower recently appeared on GB News where he spoke to MailOnline's Dan Wootton about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's early relationship. Bower claimed that Markle had high hopes for Prince Harry's financial worth, even marrying him for that reason. "Her great surprise and disappointment was that Prince Harry had very little money," Bower stated.
Bower also described Markle as "money-obsessed" and highlighted her misconceptions about the Royal Family. He explained that the couple's current lifestyle as working members of the Royal Family was not sustainable, as Markle wanted to have access to luxurious modes of transportation such as big Cadillacs and private jets on command. "At the moment she needs to scrounge for those sorts of things," Bower added.

Was Prince Harry really left with no money?
Reports suggest that Prince Harry inherited approximately $2.4 million from his late mother Princess Diana, and received up to $8.4 million from the Queen Mother's estate. During their time as senior working royals, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were largely funded by King Charles' Duchy of Cornwall estate.
Following their departure from the royal family, it was reported that the estate paid Prince Harry an average of $2.7 million per year. However, the couple claimed that this amount only covered 95% of their office expenditure, while the remaining 5% of their annual income came from the $98.7 million Sovereign Grant, a taxpayer-funded fund that is given to the most senior members of the royal family.
Becoming financially independent
After announcing their decision to step down as working royals, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle pledged to become financially independent while still supporting the Queen. Months later, the couple signed lucrative deals with Netflix and Spotify. Their explosive six-part documentary series reportedly earned them up to $100 million, while their $36 million podcast deal with Spotify would allow them to host their own shows as part of Archewell Audio.
Since their exit from royal duties, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's earnings are estimated to exceed $100 million. This includes the success of Harry's book 'Spare' and three other upcoming books that are expected to be lucrative. Experts predict that if their popularity continues, the couple's net worth could eventually reach $1 billion.
King Charles' Coronation
Despite the controversy surrounding Harry's book 'Spare', the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expected to receive invitations to the Coronation on May 6. However, in the same interview, Tom Bower expressed concern that their attendance could detract from the event and overshadow King Charles.
According to insiders, the decision of whether or not to attend the Coronation is a complex one. On one hand, they risk accusations of snubbing the family if they don't attend, while on the other hand, there is a risk of being booed or labeled as hypocrites if they do attend.
