'You look good in that purple': Megan Thee Stallion catcalled on way to trial while Tory Lanez gets praise

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Megan Thee Stallion gave emotional testimony while taking the stand on December 13, 2022, during the assault trial of Tory Lanez, who allegedly shot her in the feet in July 2020. The 27-year-old took the stand wearing a bold-shouldered pantsuit in a bright shade of purple designed by Sergio Hudson. To which, one of many people catcalled her and said, “You look good in that purple,” followed by “Megan, why are you lying on that boy?” and further stated, "Is it the truth or a lie?"

A video showed the statements thrown at Megan while she was walking toward the court, with people catcalling and harassing her. On the other hand, a video of Tory walking in had men lined up to tell him that he “looks fresh as a million bucks.” Comparing the videos, an individual took it to Twitter and wrote, "'You look good in that purple' being preceded by 'Megan, why you lying on that boy?' is exactly what misogynoir, patriarchy, and rape culture look like in real-time. He is literally catcalling her while simultaneously clearly stating he doesn’t believe she’s a victim."

The person wrote, "Another man followed behind the guy calling her a liar and repeated what he said: 'you look good in that purple!' at least 3 different, presumably, men catcalling and harassing this woman. Not one man (in this clip) stood up for her, though." "Tory Lanez may as well have been walking backstage into one of his concerts. Megan was walking through a moving interrogation room," the user added.

Unmasking the misogyny, fans took to social media as one wrote, "This really everyday like I had flashbacks. Guys will disrespect and embarrass you then try to hit on you then harass you and repeat if they don’t get physical. This is why girls are taught to cross the street and keep as much distance as they can from guys."

Another commented, "They disrespected 2 times in one breath. Called her a liar then sexually objectified her in front of a crowd of men."

Some social media users were quick to point out that Megan's attire is the color of domestic violence awareness with one saying, "Not to burst any bubbles, because it makes my heart warm too... but it might be because purple is the color for domestic violence awareness and megan thee stallion wore a purple suit to her court case today."

Another user wrote, "Megan THEE Stallion in royal purple the color for Domestic Violence, a survivor, #WeStandWithMegan. May the justice that eludes so many victims of domestic violence be delivered unto her."
