'Married at First Sight': Fans lose interest because of poorly-matched couples, call show 'farce of itself'

Lifetime's 'Married at First Sight' has hit a slump. The viewers are losing interest in the show and they have valid reasons for it.

The show follows the journey of five couples — Taylor Dunklin-Brandon Reid, Katie Conrad- Derek Sherman, Mindy Shiben-Zach Justice, Meka Jones-Michael Watson and Jessica Studer-Austin Hurd — and how they navigate the many challenges that come in the way of their marriage.

Even though pastor Calvin Roberson has been available to guide, talk, and encourage them to openly communicate about their issues with each other but that doesn't seem to be helping. The couples seem detached and not willing to work on their marriage.

In the previous episode, Brandon left his and Taylor's apartment after they had an argument over why she put up an Instagram story sharing a list of qualities she would love in a man. He is a private person and likes to stay away from social media, but Taylor's sly move made him feel disrespected, which was why he bailed out.

Meanwhile, Derek and Katie have their own differences. Even though they cook each other full meals and sit down to chat with each other, Katie feels that maybe Derek is not that invested in her because he admitted to not being in love with her yet.

Zach and Mindy are two people on the show, who clearly are mismatched. They could be friends someday, but not so much a married couple. Time and again, Mindy has expressed her interest in their marriage. She wanted them to work but Zach made it difficult by removing himself from the situation completely. He refused to live under one roof with Mindy.

Michael and Meka have had grave issues since the day they arrived for their honeymoon in Panama. Meka was upset when Michael gave her an ultimatum saying if they didn't get physically close the marriage would be over soon. However, Meka claimed that he said all of that when the couple was not being recorded. They tried ironing out their issues but maybe some wounds never heal.

Jessica and Austin have been adorable together and possibly the only couple going strong so far. They are honest with each other and make efforts to spend time with each other despite their hectic schedules.

Meanwhile, fans are losing interest in the show because of how unhappy the couples have been and the fact that they haven't been matched well.

"I’ve already checked out. I usually love mafs but this season is full of drama and unhappy, poorly matched people. Some of them also seem to have major personal issues to iron out before they jump into a serious relationship. It’s hard to watch because it’s clear the large majority of them won’t (and honestly shouldn’t) work it out," a fan wrote on Reddit.

Another blamed the experts for matching contrasting people who just don't get along with each other. "And I think the 'experts' really need to do a better job at picking people who are genuinely kind and who actually want to be there for the right reasons (to get married). I might boycott the show," the user wrote.

"It's become a farce of itself, I watch it with my wife and we just mock and laugh through the whole thing. It's just a comedy now. It's something to watch and not have to pay attention to," a viewer expressed.
