Mariah Carey abandons bid for primary custody of twins Monroe and Moroccan with ex-husband Nick Cannon
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Mariah Carey has reportedly abandoned her plans to seek primary custody of her 11-year-old twins, Monroe and Moroccan, whom she shares with her ex-husband Nick Cannon. RadarOnline.com had previously reported that the pop star was threatening to petition for full custody earlier this year, despite a joint custody arrangement being in place since their 2014 divorce.
According to sources close to the situation, Mariah had a change of heart and will no longer be pursuing the legal move. As one source had stated before, "The reality of the situation is that Monroe and Moroccan are usually with Mariah anyway. But she wants to put him on notice that he can't just flit in and out of their lives while he attends to his other children. And she wants legal standing as the twins' primary caregiver."

Carey seeks 'primary custody'
Carey sought primary custody of her twins with ex-husband Cannon, despite their amicable joint custody arrangement since their 2014 divorce. A source clarified that Carey's intentions were not to punish Cannon, but to do what she feels is best for their children. The alleged custody plans come after Carey reportedly asked Cannon to "carve out" more time to spend with their twins.
On the other hand, Cannon, who recently welcomed his 11th child with Abby De La Rosa, acknowledged the difficulty of balancing his career with fatherhood in a recent episode of 'The Check-up with Dr David Angus' on Paramount. He expressed that his biggest guilt on him is not being able to spend enough time with all his children. "One 'cause I'm constantly working and two because I'm just spread thin," he candidly admitted. Despite the amicable co-parenting arrangement, Carey's relationship with Cannon has caused issues in her current relationship with her boyfriend Bryan Tanaka.
Carey's boyfriend upset over the custody battle
According to a source, Carey's boyfriend, Tanaka, is upset that Mariah has abandoned her plans to seek primary custody of her twins, Monroe and Moroccan, with her ex-husband, Nick Cannon. The source said, "Bryan wanted her to go for full custody so he could get some space from Nick, but she hasn't pulled the trigger, and Bryan's understandably upset." Another source added, "He's fuming about it, but Mariah doesn't seem to care!"
An insider claims that Mariah's relationship with Nick has caused issues in her relationship with Bryan. The source said, "Bryan is tired of feeling like second best to Nick. It's been the elephant in the room for years now and the main reason he hasn't proposed or had kids with Mariah himself." Another source said that Bryan is not willing to just sit back and accept the situation. "Certain things really get under his skin, and Mariah's vibe with Nick tops the list. Mariah and Nick are on the phone constantly, and they get affectionate whenever he comes to town to see the kids. Mariah doesn't even like Bryan being around when Nick's there, which only fuels his paranoia."
