MAMA 2020: Mnet Asian Music Awards changes voting format for 'Worldwide Fans Choice', here's how to vote now

One of Asia's biggest award shows, the much-coveted Mnet Asian Music Awards 2020, has revealed its list of nominations for all its categories and the voting has already begun. This year, MAMA has tweaked its voting format for the "Worldwide Fans Choice" category making it more inclusive for international fans to vote.

MAMA 2020, which will take place in South Korea on December 6 this year, has already opened voting on October 29. Voting will close on December 5 at 23.59 KST. To vote for all the major categories including Song of the Year, Artist of the Year, Best Male Artist, Best Female Artist and more, you have to go to the official website and register to start voting.

However, the much-awaited "Worldwide Fans Choice" category is open for voting to Twitter users as well. To cast your social media vote, you simply have to add #MAMAVOTE and in this format fill in the blanks with your favorite group’s official hashtag and tweet #2020MAMA Vote now for Worldwide Fans' Choice on Twitter!



 

For social media voting, there is no limit. You can vote as many times a day as you want. The voting count for Worldwide Icon of the Year and Worldwide Fans’ Choice will be counted as per  60% official votes, 20% social media votes, 20% global music video views. There are a few things which you must note while voting on the official site.

Voting for mandatory categories

Voting for Artist of the Year and Song of the Year are counted as mandatory votes. Without voting for the listed mandatory categories, your vote will not be counted.

For Worldwide Fans’ Choice, Best New Male Artist, Best New Female Artist, Best Male Group, Best Female Group, and more, you have to select your chosen category to vote. 

After voting, click on Voting Complete to finalize your vote. This year, over 40 groups and artists have been nominated Worldwide Fans’ Choice award including BTS, Blackpink, NCT, ATEEZ, EXO, Red Velvet, GOT7, MONSTA X, MAMAMOO, NU’EST and more.

For Song of the Year, the voting count will be based on 20% official votes, 40% judge panel, 30% digital song sales, 10% physical album sales while for Artist of the Year and other Artist category awards, it would be chosen by 30% official votes, 30% judge panel, 20% digital song sales, 20% physical album sales.

For the album of the year category, it will be decided on 40% judge panel, 60% physical album sales and for the best music video, 70% judge panel, 30% global music video views. Only the music videos released between October 24, 2019 and October 28, 2020 will be eligible for the nominations. 

Last year, MAMA saw a major sliding victory by the global sensation BTS in all major categories including Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Album of the Year, Best Dance Performance Male Group, Best Male Group, Worldwide Icon of the Year and Best Music Video. Another Big Hit Entertainment’s boy group TXT was awarded as the Best New Male Artist and Worldwide Fans’ Choice Top 10. 

This year, BTS is nominated in all major categories as fans get ready to give them major wins as well.
