MAMA 2020: BTS to NCT, full list of performers, hosts, date, time and all you need to know about biggest K-pop event

The final list of performers confirmed that a number of powerhouse K-pop groups including BTS, NCT and Stray Kids will be performing on the MAMA stage

The Mnet Music Awards (MAMA) 2020, deemed as Asia’s biggest music award show, is set to take place on December 6 and the final list of performers was revealed on December 1, which confirmed that a number of powerhouse K-pop groups including BTS, NCT, and Stray Kids will be seen performing. NCT will be returning to MAMA after a hiatus from the show since the last time they were seen on the MAMA stage was back in in 2017.


This year, new groups will also have their debut MAMA performance including Big Hit’s new rookie group Enhypen and YG Entertainment’s Treasure. MAMA 2020, which is taking place in South Korea this year comes, with a new theme, ‘Gate to NEW-TOPIA’, depicting a new world rule.

The 22nd MAMA ceremony will take place without any live audience, a decision taken due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Descendants of the Sun star Song Joong-ki will host the show along with K-drama stars as presenters. From the complete list of performers to the list of presenters, here’s everything that you need to know.

Date and time

Mnet Music Awards 2020 is scheduled for December 6 at 6 pm KST.

Where to watch

The red carpet and the main ceremony will be aired live from channel Mnet in South Korea. 

How to live stream

For the International viewers, the show will be live telecast from Mnet’s official website and via Mnet K-pop and KCON's YouTube account. For Japanese viewers, people can catch it on Mnet Smart, Mnet Japan, au Smart Pass. US audience will be able to watch it through YouTube live and KCON USA network.


‘The Battleship Island’ star Song Joong-ki will be hosting the show. The presenters' list includes Go Bo-gyeol, Choi Soo-young, Byeon Woo-seok, Bae Jung-nam, Jeon Mi-do, Park Seo-joon, Jeon Hye-jin, Hwang In-yeop, Gong Myung, Kang Han-na, Jung Moon-sung, Jung Kyung-ho, Joo Woo-jae, Lee Jung-jae, Lee Do-hyun, Lee Da-hee, Kim Ji-suk, Lim Soo-hyang, Lee Yu-bi, Lee Sun-bin, Lee Sang-yeob, Park Ha-sun, Park Kyu-young, Im Soo-jung, Yoo Yeon-seok, Yoon Bak, Yang Kyung-won and Uhm Jung-hwa.


The breakdown of the voting process is as follows. For the Artist of the Year and other Artist category awards, the winner will be decided based on 30% official votes, 30% judge panel, 20% digital song sales plus 20% physical album sales. For ‘Song of the Year’ and Song Genre Category Awards, the title will go on the basis of 20% official votes, 40% judge panel, 30% digital song sales, 10% physical album sales. Major awards like ‘Album of the Year’ will be solely decided on numbers of 40% judge panel and 60% physical album sales. This year, MAMA has tweaked the voting rule of ‘Worldwide Fans Choice Top 10’, which will now be decided based on 60% official votes, 20% social media votes, 20% global music video views along with Worldwide Icon of the Year whose criteria is the same as Fans’ choice Top 10. For the ‘Best Music Video Award’, the criteria remains 70% judge panel votes plus 30% global music video views.

A Blackpink fan posted earlier about how the band is majorly missing from the show, “me patiently waiting for the final lineup of 2020 MAMA and hoping that BLACKPINK will be there. WE WANT BLACKPINK.”

An Izone fan said, “so many performers on mama 2020 starting to get worried if izone is going to get outshined by the other artist.” Rookie group ENHYOEN fan posted, “i’m so thrilled when I saw the new line up for the performers of MAMA 2020. I almost cried seeing ENHYPEN’s name to it.  I’M SO PROUD OF OUR BOYS, ENHYPEN! EN’S GET IT!!!!”
