'MacGyver' Season 4 Episode 10 Preview: What trippy secrets will Mac find buried in his own mind?
'MacGyver' Season 4 is all set to present its most innovative story yet with Episode 10 'Tesla + Bell + Edison + Mac'. The upcoming episode will see Angus "Mac" MacGyver (Lucas Till) enter a dream state in order to discover some important information buried deep within his own mind.
At the end of the last episode, Mac and Russ Taylor (Henry Ian Cusick) discovered a video of Mac's late father James MacGyver / Oversight (Tate Donovan) that revealed a coded message before self-destructing. Perhaps that code has something to do with the information Mac is looking for.
One of the sneak peeks from the episode reveals that Russ will manage to break Oversight's code, the key to which, as it turns out, was Steve McQueen's birthday.
Another sneak peek reveals that Mac's dream-like trance has been induced using the psychedelic substance DMT, a naturally occurring hallucinogen that can be found in most animals and plants.
That same sneak peek also reveals that an unforeseen problem with the treatment is that there's no way to control what memories Mac might access so getting the information he needs is going to be extremely difficult. But that's not the only problem Mac is going to face inside his brain.
It turns out that Mac is really not as sold on defeating Codex as he thought he was. A third sneak peek from the episode reveals that he will encounter a "Dark Mac", a part of his psyche that believes Codex's plan is the most rational, logical, and moral thing to do and unlike with an external enemy, no amount of physical violence or mental brilliance is going to help Mac get past this obstacle.

'MacGyver' Season 4 airs on Fridays at 8 pm ET on CBS.
